This is what happens if decking boards are run up tight under the bottom of your Weatherboards. Doing this can not only draw moisture up into the boards but can also effect the integrity of bottom plate. Solution: trim the bottom of the replacement board so water can escape, also be sure to clean debris build up in these areas every year. We use flashing tape to further protect the bottom plate. Never forget to prime all freshly cut edges use Galvanized joult nails and be sure to get primer and top coats on the boards as factory primers need painting as soon as possible for best results. A tidy finish at the end of the day.
