While many of us prefer to save power by not using the heat pump for cooling, this warmer weather has many of us switching those units on. If you are looking to make your air-conditioning as efficient as possible, try these tips:

• Set the temperature at around 22 degrees – setting the temp on the coolest setting won’t cool the room faster, but will make the unit work harder.
• While you are running the air-con, keep the windows and doors closed – it has to work even harder if there is warm air coming in.
• Make sure your air filters are clean.
• Make sure the area around your outdoor unit is clear and tidy – plants or debris can restrict the airflow which is needed to make it work.
