Dear valued grower
There are a few changes happening within the industry at the moment and these impact on aspects of our business dealings with our growers. The following are things our growers need to know about these changes.
Wool Wairarapa Ltd would like to advise our clients of an industry health and safety issue which has arisen concerning Ecopack woolpacks. The concern has been raised within the wool scouring and wool dumping industries and therefore from 1 July 2021 these industries will no longer accept any of these baled woolpacks for further processing. Wool Wairarapa can no longer accept wool baled in these packs. Please contact Daryn should you need any further clarification around this issue. Wool Wairarapa Ltd would like to inform our growers that we have recently signed up to the New Zealand Farm Assured Program - NZFAP. As more and more of our industry customers and consumers are wanting traceability we felt this was an important programme to support in order to help the industry recover from these historically low and unsustainable prices.
Wool Wairarapa Ltd would like to inform our growers of our work in conjunction with the Campaign for Wool. We have been asked by the CFW to contribute 1 cent per greasy kilo of wool processed through our store. We are asking our growers to support us in this as a move toward lifting the industry out of the bottom of the pit it is currently in. We shall deduct this contribution from gower’s consignments at the point of sale. This is not a compulsory contribution but as an industry participant we see this as an effective tool to help revive the industry.
