There’s something about hydrangeas. Big, strong blooms, bold colours, and almost no effort for maximum impact. They make any corner look intentional.

But did you know their colour changes depending on the pH of the soil they’re growing in?
- More acidic soil (pH below ~6) = blue tones
- More alkaline soil (pH above ~7) = pink tones

Use aluminium sulphate to keep them blue, or garden lime to keep them pink. Keep the soil consistent and you’ll keep the colour consistent.

🧑‍🌾Summer is here, and so are the hotter days. Here are our top 4 things to stay on top of before Christmas:
1️⃣ Plant your heat-lovers now.
Basil, chillies, capsicums, and late tomatoes still do well in December. Warm soil gets them moving fast and sets you up for a strong late-summer crop.

2️⃣ Add lots of Mulch.
A solid 5–7 cm layer keeps moisture where it belongs and cuts down your watering. With the heat ramping up soon, it's a good time to get it done.

3️⃣ Give young plants some shade.
A bit of shade cloth, or even a leafy branch, protects new seedlings from sudden scorch. It stops transplant shock and keeps them growing steadily.

4️⃣ Deadhead weekly.
A few minutes taking off the old blooms keeps the new ones coming, right through Christmas and well into summer.
