Odettes

Odettes We have lived at this property for 18yrs, and have slowly been doing up the house and the garden as the time and money allows.

*HOUSE GARDEN
Nov-April Wed-Sun 10-3
*PYO FLOWER GARDEN
Nov-April Wed-Sun. 10-8
*COFFEE / TEA / SNACK BAR
-self service
*PLANTS / BOUQUETS- available
*FLORAL WORKSHOPS - Monthly I have turned the surrounding grain sheds into a Devonshire Tea Room, with white paneled walls and shabby chic decor, huge silk flower arrangements, in very much the English Country style. The Garden is

my currant passion, I want to be able to have Weddings here eventually and have added a wedding tunnel and Circle Garden covered in roses. I'd describe my garden as English/European country/ rustic with formal hedges, a Potager with 6 raised beds with decoctive Steel obelisk in each for climbing peas and beans. Recently added, is a picking garden and is getting bigger each year, I love loads of fresh flowers for the House and Tea Rooms
The Garden has featured in March 22 issue of NZH&G magazine and "Gardens to visit in NZ" book Nov 22

Some pics of Anzac week last month. Again I’m so amazed by what a handful of determined Waimate Women can produce in a Hall filled with donated flowers- 400 bouquets were made and placed on soldiers graves , to be honest picking bucket loads of flowers and making posies all morning -on a glorious day -isn’t a bad way to spend my time ❤️🇳🇿🪦
On the home front I’ve started clearing beds in the picking garden, digging them over and I’ve planted out 1300 Stock seedlings hoping to get a jump on my Spring opening 🤞🤞
I’ll be driving up to Motueka on Mother’s Day on an overdue catch up with Mum and of course the boot will be full with buckets of flowers of anything I have left in the garden for her. I hope when I am 84 I will still be arranging flowers 🙏

Last week’s gatherings of roses and dahlias ,knowing this weather was about to hit 🥶🌧️🌨️❄️
Over a couple of beautiful sunny days I put this last floral display together , with inspiration from the colours in these cool towels from Loomwares (that are actually destined for our little BnB we are building in the Flower Field) can’t wait ……..
Lots of short stem roses/dahlias made up the garland, I used floral tubes with cold water and it worked a treat
Last couple of pics I went out as it got dark and dumped six’s sets of seed lights over the whole table, this is not practical, I do it all for show -and this many lights setup during the day looks awful, the reason I don’t do Christmas lights on my house , and trying to get the wires out again, wreaked everything 😅😅
This week I’m planting 100s of bulbs and working out a colour combinations for my “Spring Terracotta Pots” display

Sedum steps from Spring to Autumn
♥️❤️🩷💚♥️❤️🩷💚♥️❤️🩷💚

I absolutely love this plant, but I think it’s getting too big for its boots in this space, we’ve made a permanent steel bar to hold it of the steps, but maybe need to add another bar for next season, and I will be reducing the plants over winter and potting them up to sell

“Basket full of Bonariensis”

Easter basket full with CAL dahlias all looking gorgeous still on these more settled autumn days
A lot of my own seedlings in there too which I’m pretty rapped with (plants for sale next season) and of course Verbena Bonariensis packed into the background such a good reliable plant that flowers from Dec until the first frost
While I was flower arranging a local farmer lit a paddock of stubble and the room turned a beautiful sepia orange, such and effective way to clear off a crop and get rid off the weeds, I wonder if I could light my picking garden on fire 😅😂
