From unusable to purpose-built 👌

This space started with only around 50mm of soil… then straight into hard crusher dust — so growing anything properly just wasn’t happening.

We rebuilt it the right way.

Built a raised planter to create proper depth and turn it into a space the owners can actually use 🌱
Positioned it off the house to allow airflow and protect the structure long term.

Added a support frame for jasmine to grow up and create a clean green feature — this will look unreal once it fills out.

Also took care of a few extras

• Removed 3 existing trees
• Replaced with fruit trees 🍊🍎
• Installed a retractable hose reel for easy use

Simple upgrade — but done properly, it completely changes how the space works.

It was a sad day to remove these iconic NZ pōhutukawa trees, but with the damage they were causing to the driveway and drainage system, the homeowners were left with very little choice.

We carefully removed 2 large trees, then cleaned out and prepped the surrounding areas. W**d mat was laid down and finished with decorative gravel for a clean, low-maintenance look. To keep everything locked in place, the client chose to add mulch lock — something we highly recommend and also offer as part of our services.

To bring life back into the space, we installed two beautiful feature pots to replace the trees, creating a fresh, modern focal point. We also completed a full tidy-up around the front of the home, including removing a kōwhai tree and trimming up the hedge to sharpen everything up.

♻️ Nothing goes to waste — we make sure as much of the removed wood as possible is donated for smoking, woodworking, and reuse.

This backyard was looking pretty tired, so we stripped it back and gave it a proper refresh—clean lines, fresh lawn, and low-maintenance garden beds to tie it all together.

Quick low-budget, low-maintenance landscape transformation.
We removed an old unused deck and replaced it with a straight stepping stone walkway.

The area was prepped with w**d mat, then mulched using material from trees removed on site, topped up with mulch from Stoke Garden and Landscape Supplies.

We also added drainage at the top to catch runoff from the neighbour’s property in heavy rain.

Stepping stones were edged, backfilled, levelled, and set in place for a clean, simple path.

Unfortunately one of the photos from this job uploaded a bit blurry, so we’ve added a couple extra to show the transformation properly.

For this job we boxed out the area and brought in 10 cubic metres of quality topsoil to build the lawn area up and create a nice level base. We also boxed out the drainage to make sure the lawn performs well long term.

Once everything was prepared and levelled, we finished it off with a fresh ready lawn install, giving the property an almost instant green lawn, in a few weeks time it'll be a perfectly green lawn.
