Kaiapoi Community Hub - Masterplan including road concept design and building arrangements by Kevin Dwyer for WDC. Road and carparking in place ready for development of the Kaiapoi Croquet Club facility, Kaiapoi Menz Shed, Satisfy Food Rescue facility, landscaping and playground.

Huria Reserve Heritage and Mahinga Kai project. 10 hectares of native revegetation planned for over the next 5 years and beyond. Project by the Waimakariri District Council and Te Kohaka o Tuhaitara Trust. This is earthquake Red Zone land, now called District Regeneration Land. Much of the site is over land previously used for residential housing. Most left their homes, friends and community and dispersed around the district and beyond.
A very complex and challenging site to rehabilitate. The area experiences periodic flooding which could become more frequent and extreme with predicted climate change.
To future proof the design, paths were raised up to 800mm above ground level and boardwalks constructed to allow for natural water movement beneath. The design allows for future raising of the path level and lifting of the boardwalk platforms. Over the next few planting seasons the sides will be planting with appropriate grass/tussock species and wetlands created linking with Courtenay Lake and inland of the paths. Photos are of the first flood 5 weeks after completion. Dwyer Landscape Architecture is the project landscape consultant. Rejuvenated Kaiapoi Marine Precinct. This area can now be considered the jewel in the crown for the town centre with new private hospitality, retail and commercial developments integrated with the council's development of the terraces, river wall and pontoons. Landscape design by Kevin Dwyer, integration and project management as part of the District Regeneration Team.

Pocket park on the Kaiapoi Riverbanks Walkway. Awkward, tiny space at the intersection of the Riverbanks Walkway and Kaiapoi River Bridge on Williams Street. Bespoke planters, side table and barrier, and reinstallation of a sculpture that was removed after the earthquakes. Design, documentation, procurement and project management by Kevin Dwyer for Waimakariri District Council.

Kaiapoi Community BMX Track. Project design, procurement and project management by Kevin Dwyer. Track was designed and constructed by Trent's Tracks. Fantastic outcome for the Kaiapoi and Waimakariri BMX and wider community.
