There are a few questions that come up regularly when discussing a project. Here are the ones that come up the most:

1. How much will it cost?

Every job is different, which is why we need to see it before we can put a price on it. There are a lot of factors that go into a roofing quote and we want to make sure what we give you is accurate.

1. When can you start?

We're usually booked around a month in advance, so we aim to be there within 4-5 weeks.

1. How long will it take?

Same as the cost - it depends on the size and scope of the job. For most re-roofs, we aim to get it done within three to four days. Weather can play a part in that, which leads nicely into the next one.

1. Can you work in the rain?

Generally, no. Opening up a roof in the rain wouldn’t be the best idea! We also need to keep our team safe and working in the rain increases in chance of slipping while on the roof. We'd rather reschedule than rush a job or put anyone at risk.

Got a roofing project in mind? Feel free to pick our brains by popping a question in the comments and we’ll answer it 👇🏻

One of the questions we're asked most often is:

**"What's the best roofing material?"**

In all honesty?

It depends on your home.

The roofing material you choose is an important decision. It is a significant investment that will influence the look of your home, how it performs in your local conditions, and the level of maintenance required over the years.

The best choice comes down to a few important factors:

- Your local climate
- Your budget
- Your home's architectural style and your aesthetic preferences
- How much maintenance you're prepared to do over the years

So, what are your options?

**Long run steel** is New Zealand's most common roofing material. It is lightweight, durable, low maintenance and suits a wide range of homes.

**Metal tiles** offer the appearance of traditional tiles while providing many of the benefits of steel. They can be a great option if the look of your roof is an important part of your decision.

You will also still see **concrete and clay tiles** on some New Zealand homes. They can be durable and offer a distinctive appearance, but they are heavier and generally require more structural support.

Every roofing material has its own advantages and trade offs.

The best choice is the one that suits your home, your budget and your long term plans.

If you're planning a new roof or a re roof and are unsure which option is right for you, we're always happy to have a chat and explain the pros and cons of each.

Not every roofing job starts with us.

This homeowner had already tackled half of their roof themselves before deciding they needed a hand with the more complicated side. With multiple penetrations and a bit more complexity, they wanted someone who could help finish it properly.

They'd also already purchased the roofing iron, but after working through the job, it became clear there wasn't quite enough to finish the job.

Rather than starting over, Bryan worked with what they had, helped figure out the best way to use the remaining materials, calculated exactly what else was needed, then made the 2+ hour trip to their rural property to get the job finished.

We know every roofing job is different. Whether it's a complete re-roof, a repair, or simply helping you get a project over the line, our goal is always the same: practical advice, quality workmanship and no unnecessary upselling.

A big thank you to these homeowners for trusting us to help finish the job and for the kind words afterwards. We really appreciate it.

One of our biggest projects this year has been working with Kernow Construction on the Bupa Retirement Village currently being built in Palmerston North.

We work on a couple of blocks each month, so far we have completed 11 out of the 20 blocks, and are aiming to complete the job by the end of the year. They are a mixture of 2 and 3 unit blocks.

It's a big project and one we're really enjoying being a part of.

When we quote a job, we're not always the cheapest option. Sometimes we're even far from it.

That might sound like a strange thing for a roofing company to admit.

But we've never believed the cheapest quote should always win.

Over the years, we've asked clients why they chose us when we weren't the lowest price.

The answer is rarely about the roof itself.

It's because they knew what was happening throughout the job. They trusted the advice we gave, even when it wasn't the easiest option. They knew we wouldn't cut corners, and they knew we'd still be here if they needed us after the work was finished.

A roof is one of the biggest investments you'll make in your home. It protects your family, your belongings, and in many cases, your livelihood.

If you're comparing roofing quotes, don't just compare the price. Compare the experience you'll have getting there.

Our marketing girly realised we didn’t have a post scheduled for this week, so here we are. Please enjoy Bryan and the team being cheered on like they’ve one the FIFA World Cup.

Bryan has no idea this is going on the internet.

Apparently, she’s our biggest fan. Maybe it’s time we have the poor girl some merch.

You do not need to climb anything to get a sense of whether your roof needs attention.

From the ground: sagging roofline, visible rust, moss or dark streaking, gutters pulling away, debris collecting in the same spot after every wind.

From inside: water stains on ceilings, damp smell in the roof space.

None of these automatically mean something dramatic. Some are early warnings worth keeping an eye on. Some need sorting sooner rather than later. But knowing what is there means you can make a call before it becomes urgent.

By the time you see water inside, it has already been there a while.
