🥗With its beautiful reddish-purple leaves, crisp stems and mild mustard flavour, Red Tatsoi brings something a little different to both the vege patch and the plate.

🥗 Say hello to one of our new featured varieties — Mizuna! 🌿

With its finely cut leaves and fresh, mild peppery flavour, Mizuna is a lovely addition to salads, sandwiches, wraps and stir-fries. Pick the younger leaves for fresh eating, or let them grow a little larger for cooking.

Easy to grow and quick to harvest, it’s a handy leafy green to have in the vege patch. Try it alongside lettuce, spinach and spring onions for your own fresh salad garden at home. 🌱🥗

Have you planted your garlic yet? 🧄

August is still a good time to plant because Awapuni garlic seedlings are already a good size - giving you a valuable head start.

Plant them 15cm apart in sunny, well-drained, fertilised soil. Keep the garden weed-free and water consistently as the bulbs develop. Garlic also grows well near roses, apple and peach trees and can help discourage pests such as aphids and mites.

Harvest in summer when the lower leaves turn yellow and brown. Lift the bulbs carefully with a fork rather than pulling the foliage.

After harvesting, leave the foliage attached and hang your garlic somewhere dry, airy and sheltered to cure. Once completely dry, store it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place.
