Happy New Year, hope 2018 is starting off amazingly for you all. This article popped up and I wanted to share with you all. This was my first solo renovation, it was a scary journey post separation owning my first home was was big enough but all that comes with it was daunting, but it was mine!! The vision past the dated decor was a sanctuary for myself and my daughters. I learnt so much during the process and even taught myself how to build retaining walls, steps and many things in between. My philosophy is trying to use what I have to enhance the spaces around me, by recycling, repurposing or finding cost effective solutions to add a unique touch. Paint is always your friend and not every problem needs a costly solution, I.e my very fetching peach kitchen bench top, became a concrete bench top for a total spend of $300. Stylish homes don't need to be 'on trend' or have the latest and greatest they just need to work for you and your family. Mel x 😊

A sneak preview of a home we are working on in Paramata. Again a lovely lockwood that has been well loved by its previous owners and now our client in the midst of huge personal change gave us the spec of creating a relaxed, sanctuary for her.

Following a walk through of her previous home that had a very dark wood Asian feel we had decided which big items to bring to her new home by which items were part of her story and meant something to her, from there we would make the things dear to her work in her new home.

With a week available to get contractors in before move in day it was possible to get the bulk of the big jobs done before move in day. The whole house has been painted to create a light, airy feeling and to embrace the beachy feeling created by the spectacular sea views from outside.

A concrete wall that was dividing the dining and living areas has been lowered to create space and unobstructed sea views. A wooden top will be placed on that within the week to finish this off.

Move in day was yesterday and today Style Inc went in to roll up our sleeves and move everything into position.
All the pieces of the clients furniture have worked well and she is delighted that after having previously thinking she would have to spend a lot of money getting new things to create more relaxed spaces we have been able to make all her own things work in a surprising new way.

It is still a work in progress as there is carpet to go down, light fixtures to be replace, touch ups and doors and curtains to be rehung but the client is in, able to see the wood from the trees and able to relax with the vista this evening.!!

Its been a pleasure working on this home and we look forward to sharing the final pictures when its all done with you all. till then, enjoy Debbie!!
