Mourning the loss of our painter of five years, Rob, who passed away unexpectedly ten days ago. Rob was an extremely hard worker with the old-school work ethic (cigarette at smoko only and no phone obsession!). He was a key member of our team, a valued member of his local community, beloved brother and son, and he will be deeply missed. RIP Rob.

We almost fully stripped the old colour/stain from the Cedar boards and applied two coats of CD50 Extreme timber stain, with 5 days drying/absorption interval between. The results speak for themselves.

This house was previously coated with CD50, and 15 years later, altho the coatings needed to be removed ultimately, the boards were very well preserved with no splitting to be found. We highly recommend this product, and the additional expense (in product) is worth it.

Staining jobs are very satisfying indeed. This home faces the west and gets a real hammering from both sun and sea salt...

Staining jobs are very satisfying indeed. This home faces the west and gets a real hammering from both sun and sea salt from the nearby harbour. This is the price we pay for magnificent views!

We carefully pressure-washed off the existing stain coatings to expose the fresh timber beneath, and to ensure a blemish-free finish once the new stain coats were applied. Because stain is transparent any blemishes will show through the new coatings, so good preparation is paramount.

We applied Wattyl Forestwood Aquatech oil-based stain to the weather boards and front door (vertical surfaces), and Wattyl Forestwood Water-Based Deck & Timber stain to the horizontal surfaces (which get walked on and are sun-weathered).

Our customer's comment: "Thank you Louis, Fiona, Nick and Rob, a pleasure doing business with all of you. As the paint dries the pleasure gets greater and greater, thank you all."

Now lately, we havenā€™t liked painting roofs and have turned down a few roof jobs. (Louisā€™ back is not what it was!) However this one was nice and low-pitched, so we took it on.

The tray profile iron was first sanded smooth, patches of rust ground back, rust-treated and spot-primed. Next a full coat of galvanised iron primer was applied by airless spray, and finally two full top coats of Resene Summit Roof paint in ā€˜Titaniaā€™.

Looks good eh?

A small concrete beautification project: this cracked wall foundation was repaired by multiple build-up coats of mesh-reinforced, modified plaster. We stopped at the basecoat to maintain the bare/smooth concrete look, in keeping with the surrounding surfaces. One of the finishing touches to get this property ready for sale.
