Last week’s job finally complete.

Small roof extension/pergola on the my clients airbnb, all ready for summer down the Port Waikato. Giving the space a bit more shelter for guest.

We’ve used clearlight to allow light to shine into the covered area. Re-used the old flashings on the extension and got a small ridge made up to extend the old one.

So will you be the next to stay at the Black Batch Krē’ādiv?

Before I started fencing I was a apprentice chippy so I thought I’d try something different and build a nice and simple pergola for a client in Papakura which I had done a fence quote for earlier in the year.

Needing it done before the winters bad weather kicked in, we finished this about 2 weeks ago. Just going back today to put spouting & flashings on with the help of my bro Alexis Miller 🔨

Loved every single day of this build, heaps of learnings along the way.

I was lucky enough to do the clients front fence while just finishing her other project.

Instead of using palings to enclose the space. Client asked to somehow incorporate the use of steel mesh so she could eventually grow vines around it and this is how it turned out.

So here we have a 12 metre front fence at 1.8 with steel mesh + top cap.

Client wants to eventually do the other half of it later, so hopefully back again to see how everything turns out. Again thanks to Black Batch Krē’ādiv for the mahi ✨

A job I had earlier in the pipeline down since earlier in the year which I had done all of last week. 38 metres 1.8 + 200x25 top cap. This was a shared boundary with the council so the fence is framed out as per council regulations.

Client asked for extra retaining as some areas needed it. So we’ve used 150x50 boards along the bottom and done a small retaining wall towards the back of the property. Intermediate post in between each fence post. So this fence is super strong, and looks amazing from both sides of the property.

After many years of people replacing and putting make shift stuff up for privacy and to keep pets in. We finally gave the owner a safe & secure fence/space.

Hope everyone had a great start to their Matariki ✨

I spent mine working on this handrail & gate. Constructed from both dressed timber and 42mm timber balustrades. 🔨

Has to be some of the best stuff I have put together in a while, considering I mainly use alot of rough sawn timber now.

Handrail - is super strong, with all counter sunk stainless screws in to it. All nicely sanded down afterwards.

Gate - Thought I would mitre each corner of this gate. Doesn’t have one single nail in it as I counter sunk, pre drilled stainless screws into with bugels also. Topped pf with some nice black hardware. Again super strong and looks amazing.

Yes I do fencing! and thats what I want to stick to. But definitely could make an exemption if anyone needed this sort of stuff done at their place. 😁

Starting to catch on to this craft of mine of making these gates. Yes, they do take abit of time to put together but the outcome is definitely worth it.

All the hinges were ♻️ from previous gates. To be able to recycle, reuse and make them look as if they came from the shop is another craft in itself.

Located on the southern shores of the Hokianga Harbour, Pakanae is widely considered one of the oldest and most culturally significant Māori settlements in New Zealand.

From Pukekohe, Auckland to Pakanae, Opononi never thought I’d have the opportunity to work somewhere else other than where I’m from.

Here we have 20m of post, rail, paling at 1.8 + a nice 190x45 Top cap to finish it off. Two front gates made from scratch, retaining from recycled timber, and gate out back from what was left over.

I was fortunate to stay here during the process of building this fence, as the owners are cousin’s of mine. It is their first home and nothings more daunting than having two dogs + a baby, with their home instituted on a main drag. Not only for safety and security but for SPACE. Giving back plenty to put to use for dogs, parking, and more.

Had alot of people stop by and compliment the fence, hoping to get some work up here too. In saying that nothing’s better than being home here in Auckland.

Thank you to my cousin’s for their beautiful hospitality, wishing them all the best. And big congrats on first home buyers. 🎉

1 pedestrian gate on the side of the clients house leading to the back yard and the other two to make up a back entrance for a trailer, vehicle if needed or access for machinery. Also makes the home safe and secure for themselves while they’re away & their two lovely 🐶

After lots of digging, jack hammering, bad weather, I completed my biggest job so far as a business. 55 metres of standard post, rail, and paling fence of 1.2 & 1.8m high with 3 gates.

Amazing how something as simply as a fence can make a big difference on your house’s outside appearance. Clients & Neighbours along the shared driveway were all lovely during the entire process of this job. Grateful to be giving people their well needed space back.

Hope everyone’s been well and keeping warm in this cold weather. Next week we will be heading to the mighty Hokianga for mahi. Can’t wait to bring you guys along.

23 metres of Guardian Aluminium fencing on top of a gabion wall in Pukekohe. Wee different to your normal posting into ground, having to use pvc pipe + cap to concrete the post in and cut sections of the gabion and sit them in. Back filling with the rocks and closing them back up for strength and safety.

Now the clients can move freely outside their own home with a nice new fence and enjoy the beautiful skies from the backyard 🌄
