Just Reading Jon Lamb's good gardening email. He has some great suggestions.. for lawns
"A late-winter lawn check
Now is the perfect time for a lawn check to make sure the grass is ready to take off, looking vibrant and heathy, when warm weather returns in spring.
Start by removing w**ds as they will grow and spread, even though the grass is not active.
The ground under lawns can become compacted over winter, particularly while the ground is wet. Try to limit movement (such as walking or parking) on wet soils.
Compacted lawns should be aerated regularly, especially in high-use areas.
Then give the lawn a boost with a complete fertilizer."

It is also a good time to get your roses pruned if they haven't been done. here's a thought
