We are Stu and Jessie Barnett, a Ngongotaha based family with two young children, a dog and a cat. Welcome to our exciting new venture! Loyal to the Soil, Sustainable Gardens. We are excited to be back in Stu's home town after living in Sydney, Australia for over ten years.

Our journey into gardening began in 2011, in Sydney, Australia. Stu began his horticulture apprenticeship at the Royal Botanic Gardens of Sydney. After completing his studies we started a small gardening business in the inner west of Sydney which grew quickly.

We are changing the direction of our gardening services slightly with our new business. We envision helping busy local families to establish and maintain sustainable (beautiful) gardens.

Permaculture and sustainable gardening will help withstand the effects of climate change and the increased cost of living in NZ. Growing your own fresh fruits and vegetables right in your backyard, you decide what kinds of fertilisers and pesticides come in contact with your food. It lets you control when to harvest your food. Vegetables that ripen in the garden have more nutrients than some store-bought vegetables that must be picked early.

Not to mention the 'fun' factor, proven to encourage kids to try more fresh food! :)
