Most of us have loved it our whole life. A lot of us who have tried or regularly eat NZ grown bananas, can't eat supermarket ones anymore because they are bland in comparison. Not to mention all the other issues that come attached to imported bananas.

The problem with growing the Cavendish banana is NZ is that they are very hard to grow well. Unless you have some sort of tunnelhouse or sunny sheltered spot.

Iti is like a cross between Goldfinger, Cavendish and Lady Finger.. so it has the best of all worlds. Thick skin, semi dwarfing plant (so suitable for tunnelhouse growing), sweet and firm flesh with a tang at the end of the palette. This is a variety to keep your eyes on.

I've been a bit quiet online lately. Mainly as I am moving onto a bigger and better farm in Waipu where I can grow way more delicious bananas, pineapples and various other yummies.

Meanwhile, I have some spare bananas this week.
