These tiny pineapple pups will take several years to fruit but I don't care. The journey is the fun part. This "vase" was used by my grandmother to showcase the flowers she grew.

Where there used to be bare paddocks growing grass, now that the banana plants and support plants have matured, there are all sort of animals living amongst them including Fantails, Tui and More pork. Plenty of bees, bumblebees, worms and fungi as well.

Update on my Waipu installation. It's been a while between posts cos I've been pretty busy moving onto site and battling kikuyu. I've finally started harvesting bunches from my first seasons planting which is exciting.

If you would like a private tour/tutorial I will be offering that to people during the winter months for $100.

If you have land that you are thinking about planting I also offer consulting services during the winter.

Growing pineapples in New Zealand has its challenges but the end results are something special. Just like growing bananas, not every harvest is massive in size but they are huge on flavour and enjoyment.

This Queen Pineapple was grown by planting a top/crown in a small pot and placed in a greenhouse for about a year. Once it was rooted and grown to a suitable size it was planted in a pb18 (about 9L planter bag) and put outside in the elements. About 3 years total time.

Rooted plants are available for sale if anyone would like to give it a go.
