A quick break in the rain, and i was able to snap this absolute stunning Dahlia 😍

She is the stand out in the garden this season, bigger than my hand. She was the last to bloom but definitely worth the wait!! I will be sure to continue to grow these beauties into future seasons ❀️

Thank you, , for the tubers, and do you remember the name? Because im terrible at losing tags to the forest πŸ˜…

I guess i will be sauce making this week πŸ˜…
i had to drop a few cherry tomatoes after the rain due to splitting, but I made sure I picked most of the outdoor ones beforehand to reduce the waste.

The big green shoulders are Tie Dye Pink Berkley they are my absolute favourite, always big and juicy with such a sweet, slightly acidic flavour.
One big one does our family for breakfast of tomato on toast, which has been a regular accurance these past weeks πŸ™Œ

Happy new year!! And here we go off to a good start with my first ripe Pink Berkeley Tie Dye tomato πŸ… weighing in at 480 grams βš–οΈ , not my biggest, but still a respectable weight for this variety.

This is the time of year I take a much needed break and contemplate the year ahead while I spend my time having adventures and making memories with my husband and son πŸ’•

Thank you to everyone that has supported me over the last year and the 4 years before!! ( what how has it been that long!!!) It really has meant the world to me 🫢
I hope your gardens are absolutely blooming in abundance right now πŸ“πŸ…πŸ₯’πŸ«‘πŸ₯¬

I love how simple strawberries really are. People often ask me what I give my strawberries to help them grow and the answer is NOTHING πŸ˜… I don’t give them any fancy food or special treatment β€” just a few casual moments throughout the year. A little leaf clean-up over winter, some mulch in spring, and plenty of water and cover through the heat of summer. That’s it!

Every second year I separate the runners and replant the younger plants, and it’s been so fun watching the difference between patches this season. Noah has his own strawberry bed from last year, and mine were freshly planted this winter.

Noah’s have been the first to fruit β€” loads of berries, just on the smaller side. Mine are coming on now with fewer berries, but the fruit is noticeably bigger. It likely comes down to spacing and care: Noah’s plants are more compact and competing a bit more for food and water, while mine have more room and a tidy little irrigation line. His are hose-watered most nights and thriving in their own way.

It’s such a cool reminder that even with the same plant, small differences in age, spacing, and watering can change the whole harvest. And honestly… we’re just happy to have strawberries to snack on! πŸ“

A wee harvest of strawberries πŸ“

This is the beginning of the harvest season for me. Yes I have pulled things from the garden before now to go with dinner or lunch, but this is the time of year when abundance really shows herself.

Pretty soon, there will be something from the garden in most of our meals, full salads made, relish, tomato sauce, and i am hoping even apricot jam will make a welcomed return 😍

I am here for it πŸ™Œ
So while yes i still have seedlings for your summer gardens avaliable, you will start to see more content, pictures, and maybe even a couple of recipes of what I am doing with the abundance that is to come. The hope is to give ideas, teach, and maybe even inspire to try something new.

For now, these little guys are about to be washed and put in the freezer for summer smoothies

Something a little different is about to happen.... i got my very first Rose 🌹 and while i have grown flowers before it has always been to aid my vegetable garden in some way, be it to encourage beneficial insects, to bring the bees or simply to bring colour into my place of peace.

But this rose isn't in my vegetable garden, no, I want to enjoy her while Im sitting down drinking my morning coffee in the gentle warmth of the morning sun.

She is positioned next to our archway at the front of our property where I can see her from my kitchen window 😍

While I have been mulling over the idea for a while now i have decided to create a cottage garden at the front of our house, I love the feeling of peacefulness, the bird song, the way the breeze slowly waves at the foliage and makes the flowers dance, to me it is pure romance

So that is my next project 🏡🌸🌹🌺

Would you guys like to see this image come to life??
