So proud of Dad (Rowan!) of Redwood Building Services Ltd and his energy and time he has to give and help such a neat organization that is Motueka RDA.
A great project of collaboration upgrading the clubrooms, where many hands make light work.

Our Club rooms are looking sharp, and thanks to Redwood Building Services Ltd, our new shelving fits right in. Nothing was a problem for this guy, even when we needed a hole to be fixed it was done and dusted in a jiffy. Thanks Rowan 😊

Who else loves a before and after?

An existing industrial building receives a new lease of life as a multi-level gym space in Putaruru.

This new space is now used and well loved by Strong by Blood, a fitness gym which offer classes in HIIT, Mobility, Strength Training, Functioning & Yoga.

This has been a great project to be involved in along with Smith & Sons Renovations & Extensions South Waikato.

An exciting project completed giving this old building a big future.

Kia Ora to you all!

I have met most of you in person however there are a few of you which I have not so I thought I'd take some time to introduce myself, being the face behind LKR Building Design.

I kick started LKR Building Design in 2021 while living up in the Waikato, which is where I have some great industry contacts and ongoing projects.

In 2022, my husband and I had the opportunity to make the big shift back to our home region of Nelson/Tasman where both of us have lots of our whānau living.
We are loving being back in this sunny spot of the country and reconnecting with the incredible natural surroundings on our doorstep.

Here I am 👋 with my dog Blue while hiking on the Nydia Track in the Marlborough Sounds during 2022.

An existing industrial building currently receiving a new lease of life as a multi level gym space in Putaruru.

The primary steel structure of the building has been retained while remaining run down elements have been removed for upgrades to extend the life of this building.

This project has been a great collaboration with the client and Smith & Sons Renovations & Extensions Matamata.

Keep an eye out the next time you're driving through, it's not hard to spot!

Virtual solar studies are possible and so important to explore for each concept to ensure you are achieving a good amount of direct sun light into your building during those cooler winter months, and equally - not too much during the hotter summer months.

This week, with learnings from Solid Earth Adobe Buildings Ltd, I have been exploring the alternative construction method of Adobe Block construction.

The future (and now) of construction will see us designing with the embodied energy of our buildings in mind - which is where Adobe Block construction is very desirable for its simplicity of logistics and materiality.
In certain design circumstances the blocks, with the combination of a lime plaster externally and an earthen plaster internally, do not require the many layers of cladding & linings as a conventional build.

The below cabin examples have been designed so that a building consent is not required under the exemptions of the Building Act.
