It was great to meet MP Sam Uffindell and welcome him to AR Plus.

We enjoyed sharing our story, talking through the work our team does across the Bay of Plenty, and discussing some of the real-world challenges surrounding asbestos, mould, and healthy homes.

Great visit recently to AR Plus in Tauriko where Jarrod, Amy and their family run a long-term local business helping people remove asbestos and black mould safely. I love connecting with business owners and hearing about their wins and achievements.

As well as specialists at removing and discarding old asbestos safely, the crew at AR Plus are experts with mould. Many tenants blame their landlords for mouldy homes but it was interesting to learn that part of the problem is tenants’ lifestyle.

A family of four can emit 5 litres of vapour overnight, and that’s before you add moisture from cooking, laundry and bathing. So it's really important to keep houses well ventilated and clean to eliminate the conditions mould needs to grow.
