It’s not too late to start your own māra kai and enjoy the rewards of growing fresh, healthy kai right at home! With the warming soil, it’s ideal to plant vegetables like tomatoes, beans, carrots, and lettuce, as well as fruits like strawberries and blueberries, so your garden can thrive in the warmer months.

Puketoromiro Pā is a historically significant site for Ngāi Tamarāwaho, representing a place of deep ancestral importance and heritage. It holds memories of our tūpuna, who protected this land and remains a symbol of resilience for our hapū.

Today, our Te Mahi ā Nuku team is dedicated to restoring Puketoromiro Pā by removing invasive weeds and replanting native species, helping to revive the whenua and honor its legacy for future generations

If you’ve been along the motorway, heading to Whakatāne, you would have seen all the earthworks happening for the Rangiuru Business Park. Our kaitiaki whenua are part of the team getting all of the planting done! Over 17,000 native wetland plants have been planted so far!

Ngāi Tamarāwaho set the vision 20 years ago to restore the Kōpūrererua awa.

April 2024, saw the completion of if the northern realignment and the awa, which was previously straightened for farming, has been reinstated with twists and turns that occur in natural waterways.
