Get your planting sorted for autumn!

Late autumn is the ideal time to get plants in the ground. Warm soil combined with cooler air temperatures means your new plants can establish strong root systems before their spring growth begins.

Our eco-sourced natives are hardened to thrive in the Central Hawke's Bay environment. From riparian planting, and wetlands to regeneration, erosion control or landscaping, talk to us about your project requirements.

Secure your plants today and make the most of the optimum planting season.

It’s another great planting season, with tens of thousands of plants in the ground already, and plenty more still to head out to their new homes.

Here are a few pics from some of the completed projects, including:
- Lochie and Rach Hunter’s coastal wetland, funded by HBRC’s Environmental Enhancement Programme
- Jess and Rick Hunter’s wetland, groundwork funded by Fish and Game and plants by Pōrangahau Catchment Group.
- Riparian and community projects funded by the Pōrangahau Catchment Group.
- QEII blocks funded by the HBRC’s Priority Ecosystem Programme.
- A large bridge erosion control project funded by CHBDC for cyclone affected bridges.
There’s not much we haven’t covered this year!

Now is the time to take advantage of the benefits of autumn planting, with recent rain and good moisture levels in the ground.

While plants that sit in the ground over winter may not look like they are doing much, they are actually growing large amounts of roots. Come spring, those roots sustain new growth and by summer plants will have a larger root mass to draw water, supporting even more growth above ground.

Although you can plant all year round, plants that go in the ground in spring will need more support with watering, especially over the dry summer months.

Get your spot spraying done ASAP if you haven’t already and ensure the entire area is stock proof.

For those that have Pōrangahau Catchment Group funding, remember planting jobs need to be completed by 31 July.

This is the perfect time to plant - don't miss out!
