Working between design and garden projects this week and the bad weather. Yesterday I worked on a site removing old raised gardens and putting in new macrocarpa ones today in muddy and boggy conditions... Client happy but I am wondering just how good mud is for the skin as I got a fair amount of it :)

Bench seat design for Blum NZ. Behind the Main building in Rosebank Rd is a forest garden that opens out to a beautiful view of the mangroves and city beyond. I designed and built a large bench redwood bench seat so that staff and visitors could sit and relax and enjoy the view. The slight V-shape allows for a more relaxed communal approach and the graphics symbolise the scenery surrounding it. The base surround the seat is Waikato Fleck )often referred to as Hokey Pokey as it has some interesting natural colours through it.

Design and construction of raised gardens for Blum NZ (Avondale)... The timber I used was redwood and the timber top was vitex hardwood. My background in design and rendering is quite useful in the early stages of projects as I am able to workout the detailing and construction prior to the actual build, and having my own workshop at home allows me to build and then flatpack the completed project ready for assembly at site.

One of the makeovers I did was for our Local Glen Eden Fresh Choice, Columbus and and Little India carpark garden area which was looking a little tired and a wee bit w**dy 🙂... still a little bit to do but already I have had so many locals absolutely happy with the improvements including the owners 🙂
I used Waikato Fleck around the palms and landscape block spray to help hold the pebble in place, and then I used black bark mulch around all the other gardens and the long side garden was overgrown with w**d so I removed it all and replaced that with native grasses and black mulch and fertiliser.

Another happy client... the client wanted a space to relax in her small garden along with paths using recycled pavers so I cleared the existing garden and redesigned it so that she could utilise some of her old pots and chairs as well as reuse some old pavers to make interesting pathways throughout the garden.
