Stage one water restrictions are now in force across Auckland. These mandatory restrictions apply to all residents and businesses connected to Auckland’s metropolitan water supply network. For residents, this means you cannot use a hose or water blaster. For businesses, there are restrictions you need to comply with too. The restrictions will remain in place until further notice. There are still billions of people living without safe drinking water – they do not have access to this basic human right and are struggling to thrive or even survive.
Plumbing is essential to ensuring that people everywhere in the world have access to safe drinking water.

So today lets be thankful and celebrate the clean water we have but also work towards ensuring clean water for everyone.

Taps and other plumbing fixtures made from brass alloy may contain lead, which can be released into water that's left standing in the tap overnight or for longer periods of time.

Flush a mugful (500 ml) of water from the cold tap each morning before using water for drinking, cooking or brushing your teeth — and make sure your mixer tap is set to cold!
