Ngā Huia is now complete, and we couldn’t be prouder. A major milestone for Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa and Tāwharau Ora - School of Veterinary Science.
Ngā Huia is a new $70 million veterinary research and teaching facility and the final stage of a decade‑long redevelopment that has transformed Massey’s veterinary campus, reinforcing its role as Aotearoa New Zealand’s only veterinary school and a world‑class research institution.
Purpose‑designed to support advanced research, teaching, and collaboration, the facility brings together specialist laboratories and academic and postgraduate workplaces. Ngā Huia strengthens Massey’s ability to respond to disease outbreaks and global health challenges, while supporting a highly regarded and growing veterinary profession.
A strong cultural narrative, developed in partnership with Rangitāne o Manawatū, is embedded throughout. The story of the huia - symbolising interdependence, knowledge, and leadership - is woven into a facility that is technically advanced, culturally grounded, and future‑focused.
Ngā Huia stands as a flagship for veterinary science in Aotearoa, designed to serve Massey, the profession, and the nation for generations to come.
