Fell off the gram again…

Our recently completed Northland kitchen is giving all sorts of warm, ‘I want to bake cookies because I have the BEST larder’ vibes…
I loved working on this significant alteration with these wonderful clients. Kitchen renovations are huge - disruptive and really tiring, but they’re entirely worth it when the new space is shaped specifically for you and your lifestyle. This one is now absolutely the heart of the home.

Couldn’t be happier with his tile layout, bench top and all round colour combination to reinvigorate our lovely client’s laundry!

We don’t always start from square one, we also love to bring joy to spaces with just the right tweaks! 🤩

Finding just the right pendants for No.14: The cavernous living area, open to the gallery above called for both a generous scale and an airiness.
These stunning fittings bring the right amount of size & industrial edge to the space while feeling light and transparent.
Always an interesting planning moment positioning a grouping at the apex of a ceiling!
Props to and builders Custom Homes, for their good humour and patience as we established heights - us running up and down the stairs, critiquing from the inside and the garden to ensure they were just so!

Flip, I fell of the gram there for a few weeks - and I’ve got so much to share! Head down focussing on some beautiful interiors, kitchens and bathrooms - exciting stuff 😊

Here’s the stunning scullery at No.14; through an enormous fluted glass door the care and attention to detail continues. With the sliding door opened wide, this doubles the footprint of the ‘front of house’* kitchen and there’s absolutely no hierarchy here - both are as beautiful as each other with materials and detailing tying both spaces together. We love the glazed bifolding overhead doors using lift system with servo drive.
And when that big wonderful sliding door closes, the bar is open - a clever niche that would otherwise have been absorbed into a bedroom is the perfect spot to play bartender.

*hangover terminology from my waitressing days…

We were so lucky to have Christine Brimer of visit the studio today.
Christine’s passion for weaving is infectious — her designs and techniques are genuinely inspiring, and the technical skill and patience her work demands is something to behold. Anna and I were treated to a showing of her newer work in linen and paper. Each piece a quiet reminder of what it means to truly care for a craft.

At No. 14, every material was chosen to enhance the architecture and reflect our client’s vision and nowhere is that more apparent than in the ensuite.

The central wall is both practical and monumental, cleverly concealing the loo and shower while making a quiet statement on entry. Zellige-style tiles in our own custom pattern set the tone, framed by solid brass edging and punctuated by tapware from Perrin & Rowe. Both have settled into a beautiful patina over time.

The vanity niche, finished in the same oak veneer as the kitchen, keeps the space feeling warm and lived-in. The thread of materiality running through this home is intentional —considered, but never precious.

Let’s start with the kitchen — because it truly is the heart of No. 14.

In this open-plan space, our client had a clear vision for the rear wall: an alcove for an Aga style oven, clad in a sensational tile to give weight and colour to the entire room. We scoured our tile resources and sourced this perfect statement tile - possibly the first material selection we made! The cabinetry is a combination of solid oak and VidaSpace’s Querkus, a deliberately mismatched brushed oak veneer, immediately aged providing texture and depth. In contrast the Dekton benchtops are entirely modern and very hardwearing. The solid brass tapware from Perrin & Rowe, left unlacquered, has already distressed and will continue to age elegantly over time.

We worked closely with the architects at Novak+Middleton, who designed and drafted this gorgeous kitchen, to select the specific materials, handles, and hardware that set the scene for the entire living space. It’s those considered details that turn a beautiful structure into a home that feels uniquely yours.

And through that very beautiful door is the scullery...
