The aims of the Wadestown Wilton Horticultural Society are:
1) To promote and share a knowledge of gardens and gardening.
2) To co-operate in community projects.
3) To encourage in children an interest in gardening.
4) To enhance the environment of Wadestown, Wilton and Highland Park.

St Luke's Wadestown are celebrating the church strengthening!
Saturday 27 July: 2-4 pm
Open home @ St Luke's and afternoon tea.
Enjoy a tour around St Luke's designed in 1908 by notable Wellington architect, Frederick de Jersey Clere.
Admire the stunning Memorial Window commemorating those from Wadestown who died in WW1 and WW2.

Sunday 28 July 10am, Service of Thanksgiving and blessing by Anashuya Fletcher Assistant Bishop of Wellington followed by morning tea.

John and I walked up Johnson's Hill today. It was a beautiful day and the view was splendid from the top. Half way up, this iconic tree stands in the middle of the track. Seventy five years ago I remember climbing it, 45 years ago our children climbed it and about 15 years ago our grandchildren did the same!
We weren't tempted to carry on the tradition today!

The Garden Visits to Kelburn last Sunday went very well. The weather was kind and we visited 5 gardens, all very different but all very interesting and beautiful. Here are a few pictures taken during our Garden Trip to the Hutt Valley on Sunday.
We were blessed with a fine day and enjoyed a mixture of places to visit including the beautiful new garden laid out at Te Omanga Hospice, HVHS Early Summer Show, 2 big private gardens, Christ Church the 2nd oldest church in NZ and its rose filled graveyard, The Lucy Cole Rose Garden and then a browse around the California Home and Garden Centre.

At the AGM of the Society last night Peter Milne was made a Life Member of the Society to the acclaim of those present.
Peter has been an unsung hero of the 100 year old society. His input has been invaluable despite not being a "plant person" himself.
Over 20 years he has set up and maintained the web site, set up St Luke's Atrium before shows, taken photos of the winners at each show and several times he has come after receiving a desperate call when the overhead projector wouldn't work just before a meeting.
Here he is with President Graeme Schofield.
