Thank you for the beautiful supportive words on the news of Flora & Leaf closing. Thank you to everyone who shopped with us & waited in the very long queue yesterday!

We are open again today from 9am until early afternoon.

30% off ALL indoor & outdoor plants, pots & bird baths.

20% off all sprays, fertilisers, seeds, candles & diffusers

We also have a bit of furniture for sale as well!

It is with a heavy heart and a profound sense of nostalgia that I announce the very difficult decision to close the doors of Flora & Leaf.

I have enjoyed every minute of owning this store from the minute my daughter, Alex and I brainstormed new names for this unique garden centre right in the middle of Whakatane CBD. My passion for gardening and all things green came from early in my childhood, helping my Nana with her exquisite garden full of beautiful blooms and extensive edibles and going on garden walks around the neighbour hood admiring everyone else’s work. This tradition was carried on with my own mother doing exactly the same thing.

When the opportunity arose for us to purchase Landscapes for Lifestyle/The Good Garden Company it seemed like a no brainer. The Landscape Yard at Gateway lent itself for all sorts of things. The annual fashion parade we held annually, run by a very dedicated group of women to raise money for the Eastern Bay Breast Cancer network was very satisfying and indeed a highlight. It was during this time that I studied landscape design extra murally at Massey to add to my knowledge of all things garden. This was a very busy time with studying, running the business and ferrying four children around to their after school activities. After 12 years of Landscapes for Lifestyle/The Good Garden Company the opportunity arose to purchase Whakatane Supplies and with a name change and a revamp it has been my home (at least my second home) for the last 6 years.

We have been so lucky to have an independent garden centre right in the middle of town but with the challenges that small business face in a provincial town and the current economic climate it is time to hang up my secatuers.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of my amazing customers for your continued support over the time that I have been at Flora & Leaf and stress the importance of shopping locally in small businesses!
