Lost keys? - no stress, Marcs Mobile come to you

Marc McKenzie was in the locksmithing and the key trade for 22 years, even being President of the NZ Locksmith Association, before deciding it was time to go out on his own. He set up Marcs Mobile three years ago and while he has a base at Campbell Auto Repairs on Guyton Street, much of his time is in his van responding to customers needs at their place.

A case in point recently was when he was phoned by someone who had lost his car keys on Mount Ruapehu. Marc went up there for a ten-minute job and a very satisfied customer.

A major part of his work is for lost car keys and car transponder keys (those with computer chips that start the vehicle). He says, “I would get a call out for lost car keys about twice a day with others asking for duplicate keys to be made.

He currently has a big job replacing every lock at Rangitīkei High School in Marton. “They were old, and it is time for a change,” he explains. “I do a lot of work in Marton.”

Being almost totally mobile, Marcs Mobile has no property to lease and without the same overheads as other lock companies. This means his charges are cheaper.

Marc also has a mobile disc machine able to machine car discs. Business in this field is also booming. “I would do six sets a day working with companies such as David Jones Motors, Toyota, Midtown Motors, Ifix as well as Campbells Auto Repairs. He picks up and delivers.
