A huge 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂 to our 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗢𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 for the time and efforts they have put in to open their Gardens up for us on Sunday 🌺🌿

It was a magnificent day out enjoyed by so many, and we truly appreciate all they have done to help us make the day a success! Some photos attached of the incredible gardens yesterday!

🌺🌿𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 🌿🌺

We thought we should also let you know a little about the amazing facility we are fundraising for with out Garden Ramble - the Mangakahia Sports Complex! 🙌 🙌

The Mangakahia Sports & Community Complex is a community facility opened in 1976, and administered by the Mangakahia Sportsground Society. The facilities include a large Community building with two squash courts, two rugby fields, a soccer field, playground with basketball hoop and a walking loop.

The Complex facilities are available for hire and these include two reception lounges, both with kitchens, and a multi-use hall/gymnasium. The upstairs lounge has a fully licensed bar.

The Complex is also home to our affiliates:
🌟 Mangakahia Squash Club
🌟 Mangakahia Rugby Club
🌟 Mangakahia Junior Football Club
🌟 Mangakahia Lions Club
🌟 Mangakahia Gardening Club
🌟 Mangakahia Group Fitness
Children’s Dance Classes, Yoga, Bootcamp fitness and a Social Club are also run weekly.
Many other local organisations including schools use the Complex as a venue for sports, fitness and community events.

Funds raised from the Garden Ramble go towards the upkeep of this facility 🏢

Here is some important information on the event to help with planning you Ramble.
If you have registered your email address when you purchased your ticket you will have an email with this info too.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

𝗠𝗮𝗽 & 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Attached you will find our event map and garden information. This brochure has important information about the ramble, as well as information on each garden, stalls, points of interest in the area and toilet locations. There will be printed versions of these available at every garden on Sunday as you enter.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀
You can make your way around our featured gardens in any order you choose. All will be open from 9am through to 4pm, with last entry at 3.30pm. This year our gardens form a neat circular tour, therefore we suggest you choose any garden to start at and make your tour from there, so as to not cause too much congestion at the #1 garden.
There will be Blue & Yellow flowers laid out along the route, to help you confirm you are on the right track. There will also be one of these flowers with blue and white balloons attached at entrance to each garden.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴
Each garden will be manned by our parking assistants dressed in their high-vis vests. Please look out for them and take note of their directions. Take care when driving up and down driveways, some are narrow and allow for one way traffic only.

𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀
When you purchased your ticket(s), you were either given a physical ticket or they were emailed to you by Eventfinda. You must bring your card or printed ticket (or show an electronic version on your mobile phone) to the first garden, where you will be given a wristband to wear. You will need to show this wristband to gain entry to any other garden. When you put on your wristband, it will not be able to be transferred.
Children under 14 have free entry with a paying adult and must be supervised at all times.
Representatives from the Mangakahia Sports Complex will be on the gate at each garden checking tickets and issuing wristbands. They’ll also be your go-to for any information you need on the day.

Tickets are available online at Eventfinda up until 8am Sunday 23 November if you or someone you know needs a last-minute ticket. Or Bethany Gardens at

We do not have any cash out facilities on the Ramble, so please bring cash with you. The Complex Cafe at garden #5 Magnolia Garden – 37 Proctor Rd will have EFTPOS available but NO CASH OUT. Most stalls in our gardens will be operating on a cash only basis.

𝗖𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 & 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱
The following gardens will have available:
• #8 Hamilton’s Garden - Craved Cuisine Coffee Cart will be serving hot coffee along with some food (EFTPOS available)
• #6 The Secret Garden – will have Bacon Butties for sale (cash only)
• #7 Whistle & Bloom – will have a BBQ (cash only)
• #5 Magnolia Garden - The Complex Cafe run by our Mangakahia Sports Complex Committee will have coffee, tea, sweet slices and savouries for sale, along with water. You can also enjoy a complimentary glass of bubbles from 12noon courtesy of Craigs Investments Whangarei.
𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 & 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁:

• Jolt Café in Maunu

We have some amazing raffles up for grabs at garden #5 - Magnolia Garden - 37 Proctor Road, Poroti! EFTPOS will be available to purchase tickets.

We have several toilets available at the gardens along the ramble, please refer to the map for locations.

Please take note of the Health & Safety notices at each garden. The Mangakahia Sports & Community Complex has no liability for any injury or damage occurred to you or your property when you are visiting the gardens.
All gardens are non-smoking and no pets allowed.
Please keep to paths and take care to avoid trampling on foliage.
Please respect the privacy of the property owners, their homes are not open for viewing.

𝟭. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲
A thoughtfully landscaped property showcasing what’s possible on an exposed clay hilltop. Features include the historic Houto School House gardens with views to Houto Mountain, a cottage with repurposed concrete tennis court paving and lush flat lawn, and a regenerated lower section with native trees and walkways. A unique blend of structure, creativity, and natural beauty across three thoughtfully designed areas.
𝟮. 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗸𝗶 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲
This character-filled flat country garden features mature trees, totara fences, volcanic rocks, and charming old farm sheds with vintage tractors. This country garden has been lovingly developed over 20 years, with newly established areas adding fresh interest. A vibrant mix of shrubs and flowers surrounds the home, offering year-round colour and variety. Thoughtfully planted and ever-evolving, it’s a tranquil and inviting space that reflects the charm of country living.
𝟱. 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻
This flat 2 acre garden uses decideous magnolias form a lush backdrop to annuals, bulbs, perennials, roses, and shrubs, creating continuous blooms throughout the seasons. The property also features a fenced orchard with numerous fruit trees and a chicken run, blending productivity with garden beauty. 6. The Secret Garden
Explore a thriving flat commerical foliage garden developed over the past 10 years, featuring rows of vibrant flowers and foliage. Surrounded by remnants of native bush, this garden supplies local and Auckland floristry trade, with the main harvest running from February to August. A unique opportunity to experience productive horticulture firsthand.

Over the last winter several areas have been reworked.
𝟵. 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴
Created over 8 years by Marie’s dedication and creativity, this vibrant volcanic garden transforms a steep hillside into a colourful retreat. Featuring bromeliads, clivias, and subtropical plants woven among native bush, winding paths, bubbling streams, and sculptures, it offers a unique blend of natural beauty and artistic charm set within picturesque farmland.

🌺🌿𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 on 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟯 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿🌿🌺

On the trail this year you'll be treated to nine beautiful gardens with an abundance of flowers in every style and setting—wander through lush cottage gardens, admire the bold beauty of subtropical plantings, and stroll past thriving commercial flower market beds bursting with colour. Discover the charm of a farm park, that offers pick your own flowers in season, and take in the serene beauty of volcanic landscapes and easy-care gardens designed for modern living.

There will be also be plants for sale at several location and numerous garden related stalls.

- The Mangakahia Gardening Club with plants of various varieties for sale.

At 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻:
- NZ Iris Society Mid North Group with Iris plants for sale and a display. www.nziris.org.nz
- Wendy Gregory with some delightful garden pottery
- The Complex Cafe offering tea, coffee, water, hot savouries and sweets.
- Lottie's Bloomers selling a selection of plants and seedlings
- Our Raffles are on display and available to enter at this garden, with 10 different options to enter!
- And from 12noon a complimentary glass of bubbles to wander around the garden with thanks to Craigs Investments Whangarei!

- Whilst her children will be running a Bacon Buttie stall!

At 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲 & 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺:
- Laurie will have Dahlia plants for sale
- Along with a BBQ to grab a snack

At 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻:
- A delightful quilt made by Jackie herself is up for raffle
- Craved Cuisine Ltd with Catharine selling coffee, tea, toasted sandwiches and sweet slices

At 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴:
- Rosie Speedy will have plants and art for sale
- Judy Burch is selling crafts and home made natural products

🌿🌿Our final feature garden is 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲!🌿🌿

Perched on an exposed clay hilltop, the Houto School House property showcases what’s possible through vision and persistence.
Purchased in 2015 and transformed from weeds and privet into a thoughtfully landscaped acre, it now features three distinct areas: the historic School House gardens with views to Houto Mountain; a cottage framed by lush lawns with paving repurposed from the old tennis court; and a regenerated lower section with native trees and walkways.
Blending history, creativity, and natural beauty, this evolving landscape invites visitors to pause and enjoy.
