Tawapou are a major supplier of native plants throughout the country and our local area. Tawapou has an extensive garden displaying many native plants, which is home to several native birds. Tawapou Coastal Natives began with the nucleus of an idea, a good growing environment, a keen management team and an ambitious business plan.The Tawapou is a rare coastal tree found on the Tutukaka Coast. It is one of more than 150 native plants, shrubs and trees you will find growing at the nursery.

Tawapou Coastal Natives would like to invite you all, plus family and friends, on behalf of the Tawapou Conservation Trust, to our planting day on.

📆 27th of June
⏰ 9am.
📍Taurawhata Headland by ‘The Hut’
(Taurawhata Lane, follow the signs out past Roger’s)

The planting will be followed by a hāngī and a talk from our guest speaker, Kennedy Warne.

Please come prepared with appropriate footwear for the steep terrain and bring your favourite spade.

All are welcome! There are plenty of plants to get in the ground 🌱🪏

We’re still here 🌿

Over the last month, we’ve been working behind the scenes on some exciting changes, restructuring Tawapou for 2026, focusing on a smaller range of specialised native plants, refreshing our website and ordering online, plus trying to find a slower pace along the way.

Thank you once again for all your support over the years.
