Thank you to all of our loyal customers. It has been a pleasure helping all of you plant lovers over the past couple years. Unfortunately, for now, we are unable to keep the nursery open and Vivero Deliciosa will be closing on December 15th.

We still have a lot of plants left in stock that we would like to find homes for! Starting this Friday, Nov. 24th., we will be having a Black Friday/Closing Sale, where you will find discounts on all of our plants left in stock. There will even be some private collection plants from my house that will be for sale. Our operating hours will stay the same, Tuesday to Friday 2-6 pm and Saturday 10-2 pm.

We will not be making any restock orders after this week. So if you need anything like palms or items that we normally get in from David, make your orders soon.

Water Apple - Syzygium malaccense

Also known as Marañon Curacao in Panama, the water apple is a fast growing, fast producing abundant fruit tree originally native to tropical Asia and Australia. This tree produces a lot of fruit multiple times per year and has some beautiful pink flowers that signal the new production cycle.

It likes to be grown in full sun but can handle some shading and likes to have access to plenty of water. The water apple can begin to fruit in as little as 3 years and does not have a lot of delicate care requirements. Plant in nutrient rich soil and make sure it has plenty of water)

Torenias!
These are one of the few delicate flowers that do well in part sun or shade. Especially here in the tropics they like to have a decent amount of shade. They come in a variety of colors.

They like moist soil but can handle some lapses in watering. Do not let them sit in soggy soil, but use well draining soil that you can keep moist.

Oregano - Origanum vulgare
This aromatic herb is a must have for anyone who likes cooking and/or medicinal plants. Oregano likes the sun, but the tropical heat can be a little tough on it. Place it somewhere that gets plenty of light but maybe has some protection during the middle of the hot day.

The plant likes to spread out and will grow stronger if you consistently pinch or trim it. Make sure to provide good drainage and don't water too often. It likes to get very dry between waterings.

Mums - Chrysanthemum sp.

Another sun loving plant, make sure to plant them in well draining soil where they will receive plenty of light. Give them some space from other plants or room in a pot for the roots to expand. They like to have plenty of compost or fertilizer to keep up the energy needed to put out flowers and should have mulch to prevent weeds from moving in. It is ideal to deadhead the flowers when they are dying back and make sure to water only the soil to prevent fungal growth on the flowers.

Sweet Basil - Ocimum basilicum

A staple in most kitchen around the world, basil is a short lived perennial here in Bocas. Make sure to give your basil plenty of water, not letting it dry out for too long. It likes to have plenty of sun, but mid-day full sun can be a bit much for it. It will do great near your window or with some sun protection.

Chavelitas - Catharanthus roseus

These beautiful flowers are native to Madagascar but are easily grown here in Bocas. They make a great splash of color in a garden, on your porch, or even in a hanging pot.

Plant them in a place where they get plenty of light (full sun or dappled shade) and have well draining soil. Do not water them too late in the day, as they like to dry out after watering.

Jade Vine - Strongylodon macrobotrys

This flowering vine is my personal favorite flower in the world. It is a tropical vine that prefers partial shade and a trellis or tree to grow up. The flowers hang down in pendant trusses with 75+ flowers.

This plant is hard to find and we do not always have stock, so please check before coming in looking for it.

We have some new cool Philodendrons in stock! Philodendron Florida and Philodendron Burle Marx. These make excellent houseplants as they like bright indirect light. Grow the Philodendron Florida up a pole and the leaves will get bigger.

Peacock flower - Caesalpinia pulcherrima
A great ornamental but useful addition to your garden! Full sun lover and produces beautiful flowers that attract hummingbirds and pollinators. It grows quickly and easily and is also a nitrogen fixer, so use it for mulch when you are ready to cut it back. Ask us which colors we have in stock at the moment.
