I was walking from the dining room to the foyer tonight, and was blown away by the view. This is the foyer of our 1861 heritage home, built by a ship captain, Ainsley Porter, in Nova Scotia. We bought the house in 2007 and restored it, top to bottom. I’ve lived here longer than I’ve lived anywhere else in my life. I hope you enjoy it. Foyers are often forgotten rooms, relegated to the role of passing through. But they deserve more attention than that.

I have a couple of kids and ended up not having a bedroom of my own.. So I decided to ask a friend for help and convert the garage into a bedroom for me.. The garage is already well insulated.. Just need to insulate the roller shutter.. My dressing room is behind the curtain.. Here are the before and after pictures...

Like many of us, I left an unhealthy marriage and a huge house that I had put so much time, money and energy into. I had no idea that 850sqft could bring so much peace! I am half a block from my daughter and two of my three grandbabies. Life is now simple, peaceful and relaxing. He may have thought he took everything (most material possessions, yes) but he couldn’t take my happiness.

I am 36 years old. I live with my husband and daughter on a farm in Sweden. Our house was built in 1925 and over the past 10 years we have been carefully renovating the farm. This group will definitely inspire more renovation projects!

After loosing my daughter last year we gave up doing anything in the garden it was just a muddy , soggy mess , after getting guardianship of our 2 year old granddaughter we decided she needed a safe and nice place to play , so got someone in and so happy with the transformation, hopefully she will have lots of sunny days to play ☀️☀️☀️

So my adult son has to move back home temporarily so we've been trying to turn our previously unfinished loft into a comfortable living space. He works remotely so I hope this works out for him. Don't laugh at me.

My little Christmas Cottage built in the 1800’s on the east coast of Scotland. These cottages were built originally for Weavers who worked at the linen mills. It’s tiny but cosy and the view from my bedroom window is the reason I bought it. Still lots to do but it’s starting to feel like home

Yesterday I posted beautiful pictures of the greenhouse my husband built for me.
Here are pictures of the stunning and impressive interior. I love to come inside just to get away from it all. There is such a prayerful and peaceful presence. My husband is so amazing and awesome!!

I LOVE this group. My entire house is maxed out, but I'm most proud of the cat lounge I just finished! The weird nook under the stairs was supposed to be a closet but somehow they left it open. I hated it at first, spending hours googling what to do with the nook under the stairs (I rent so can't make permanent changes). It's weirdly deep with this weird nook, too small to be used for anything other than collecting junk. But it's perfect for the kitties to have their own Maximal Princess Cat Lounge. Gigi didn't like it so Butterz gets to chill in her own lounge. Took almost 2 months. Here's the progress from the day I moved in until today.

It’s been quite a while since I shared a before/after. We are down to the last 3 rooms which should be finished in the next few weeks. This room is the only room on the 3rd floor of the house. It’s accessed by a back staircase and then a much narrower walkway and set of steps. Originally used as servant quarters. It became a storage area in later years. I refer to it as the “dollhouse” as everything leading up to it is just….smaller. I will be using it as my office and craft area.

I’ve been sleeping in this bed on and off since I was two. My father bought a suite of French furniture from a manor house (the furniture was stored in his barn) near Bordeaux in the late 40’s. He was serving there with the US Corps of Engineers who were trying to put France back together after WWII. I love my old bed. Creaks like an old ship!

Just finished converting my 400sqft, 2 car garage into an apartment for my 83 year old mom. Year long project. Super happy with the final result!
