Service to the nation begins at home. This painting presents nine plates symmetrically prepared by a mother, symbolizing balance, fairness, and shared responsibility in nation-building. Each plate represents a sector where women actively contribute to society: health and wellness, design and construction, creative and entertainment industry, law and justice, agriculture, education, tourism and hospitality, public safety, and sports.
The plates in varying tonal values reflect the diversity of women’s identities, strengths, and paths. Their equal size and precise spacing emphasize equality despite these differences—no role outweighs another, and every contribution holds equal value. The absence of spoons and forks suggests that this is not a dining table but a serving table. Although motherhood is often considered the toughest job in the world, the mother is not represented on any plate because she is the one who prepares them—serving, sacrificing, and giving without expecting anything in return.
The gold in the woven tablecloth symbolizes excellence and the elevation of women’s roles in society, especially mothers whose work at home is often unseen yet forms the foundation of the nation. The purple stitched patterns signify women’s empowerment, resilience, and collective strength, evoking weaving traditions rooted in care, patience, and endurance.
Through its concept and composition, HAIN NI INAY, KARANGALAN NG PINAY pays tribute to mothers as the quiet force behind women who serve as pillars of nation-building, and to the women who bring honor and pride to the country—from the home to the nation.
