How To Care For Philodendron Brasil Plant
LIGHTING
Philodendron Brasil thrives in a room with a bright indirect light.

But based on experience, they can also tolerate direct morning sunlight. Just give it time to adjust to a new lighting conditions. Please take note that some of the old leaves may burn when you have your plant relocated to a new area with a brighter and more direct sunlight. But this is just temporary, just remove the burned leaves as the plant acclimates to its new place.

Also, when you put this plant in a darker place, the variegations will appear less prominent and the green shades will become darker.



WATERING
Philodendron Brasil needs moderate watering.

Water only when the top 3-inches of soil is already dry.

Your fingers sticked into the soil can feel if it is still wet.

During rainy season (if it is outdoors), don't let it soak in water for more than 3 days. Allow the plant to dry by putting it in an open-air area with a bright indirect light.

SOIL REQUIREMENT
Use a well-draining soil with lots of organic matter like coco husks.

You can also use composted rice hulls combined with coco cubes and pumice rocks.

Rainy Day Propagation

Tag-ulan (rainy season) came early.
I heard from other plantitas that it is best to propagate during rainy days.

So without thinking twice, on a Sunday morning, I got my mother plant whose roots were already protruding at the bottom of its pot.

I made 4 cuttings plus the mother plant. All of them are well rooted except for the topmost cutting. Its aerial roots are yet to create soil roots to sustain the life of the plant cutting.

BTW, I also decided to cut it because the top leaves were reverting to green color. So in the coming days, I might be selling REVERTED Monstera Albo at a cheaper price.

Not all of my propagations were successful.
Last December I had a success rate of 1/3 in rooting a monstera cutting into an established plant.
