Naiyawat iti water pump, hose, thresher, multi-tiller ken power sprayer kadaguiti nadumaduma nga asosayon ti mannalon ti probinsya nga Abra.

The Department of Agriculture- PhilRice Central Office at Muños Nueva Ecija, led by Scientist II/ Supervising SRS I Jaime A. Manalo IV, together with the PhilRice Isabela Branch Station, in cooperation of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist- Abra headed by Engr. Christopher M. Gulloy, facilitated a workshop and finalization of output on Climate- Smart Maps for Strengthening the Adaptation plans of Farming Communities (CS Map) Project.

Said workshop was attend by National Irrigation Administration, and different line agencies of the province like the PDRRMC, ENRO, and PPDO.

OPAG Abra Supervising Agriculturist Silvestre V. Briones, emphasized the commitment of the province to utilize the Climate- Smart Maps for planning purposes of the policy makers in response to climate change.

Earlier this morning, OPAG Abra joins the clean up drive on waterways in support of the Executive Order No.29, series of 2017, month of July designated as the National Disaster Resilient Month.

This year's theme, "Naghahanda at Kumikilos Tungo sa Panatag na Bagong Pilipinas", Abra Governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin directed all Local Chief executives, LDRRMC's, BDRRMC's LDRRMO's and other stakeholders to clean and clear blocked waterways, clogged drainage in their respective areas, particularly pointing the Abra River, Calaba, Bangued, Abra. A good move to ensure safety and avoid possible floods these rainy season.

The Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Soil and Water Management (BSWM) together with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist- Abra headed by Engr. Christopher M. Gulloy, supported by the Provincial Governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin, held a 3 day Capacity Enhancement Training For Farmers on Soil Sampling and Soil analysis using the soil test kit method at OPAG Training Hall, Calaba, Bangued, Abra.

This is in support of the National Soil Health program of the BSWM, the regional Soils Laboratory (RSL).

Said training was attended by the different farmer members of the Farmers Cooperative Association (FCA)

Earlier today, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and Office of the Provincial Veterinarian welcomed Señor Santiago. An annual tradition wherein a Holy Mass is celebrated in every office to bless and spiritually uplift every worker.

Fr. Allan Flores officiated the mass with his fervent prayers of mercy, guidance and protection to everyone in the office just like the intentions of Señor Santiago.

Farm equipments particularly grass cutters, coffee pullers, power sprayers were distributed to Various Farmers Associations in the province of Abra held at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.

Aside from farm equipment,
fertilizers, flower inducers, crates and vegetable seeds were also given.

This dispensation were funded by High Value Crop Development Program (HVCDP) Department of Agriculture- CAR coodinated at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist headed by Engr. Christopher Gulloy, OIC Provincial Agricultirist together with Mr.Jayson Ordoñez, HVCDP coordinator.

Recipients were Farmer Associations from municipalities of Bangued, La Paz, Bucay, Boliney, Luba, Lagangilang, Lagayan, Villaviciosa, Licuan-Baay, San Juan and San Quintin.

OPAG joins the Government Outreach Day held at Brgy. Collago, Lagayan on May 30, 2025, lead by Acting Governor Russell Bragas.

We released inorganic fertilizers, Humus (soil conditioner) and variety of vegetable seeds to farmers.

"Strengthening Farmers Through Knowledge and Support 🌾

In a collaborative effort between the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG-Abra) and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), OPAG staff actively participated in and assisted with the presentation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and vegetable production technologies to the farmer-beneficiaries of the Farmer Business School (FBS) – Villa Banat Agriculture Cooperative on April 29, 2025. As a gesture of support and encouragement, OPAG also distributed gardening kits as starter tools to help our farmers jumpstart their sustainable farming journey. Together, we cultivate resilience, productivity, and growth in Abra’s agriculture sector."
