🌱An affordable way to bring a room to life is with indoor plants. A pop of green with an interesting texture can make a lifeless corner or shelf feel complete. I like to think of them as nature’s art, and although they take a little more care than a new watercolor, they are certainly more affordable than an original art piece. Today I am sharing some recent spaces where an indoor plant has made the difference, how styling your plants in groups or with a unique planter can make a major statement, and ideas for using plants all throughout your home.

♋️🌱♈️The Houseplant You Need in Your Home, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

Plants have the ability to lift your mood and even make your home a healthier place to live. But which houseplant purchase makes the most sense for your particular disposition? We looked to the zodiac for some clarity...naturally.

THESE 5 HOUSEPLANTS ARE SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN TO BOOST YOUR MOOD

🌱AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 – FEBRUARY 18): JASMINE

A taste for the out of the ordinary is embedded in your stardust. So opt for a flowering jasmine plant, which is known for its intoxicating scent, exotic associations and sensual properties.

🌱PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 – MARCH 20):ORCHID

You’re a starry-eyed dreamer who needs to be surrounded by beautiful things to feel inspired. Treat yourself to the loveliest of all potted plants: the orchid. Just try not to kill her this time, mmk?

🌱ARIES (MARCH 21 – APRIL 19): EUCALYPTUS

Strength is your trademark trait and pride point. So snag a eucalyptus plant, whose many health benefits include easing respiratory conditions and reducing the risk of bacterial infections because

🌱TAURUS (APRIL 20 – MAY 20): ZZ PLANT

You’re a tough cookie with a bullish disposition—which is why the ZZ plant (known as the most indestructible of all houseplants) is your botanical soulmate. (No direct sunlight though, earth mama.)

🌱GEMINI (MAY 21 – JUNE 20): ALOE

In ancient times, this “plant of immortality” was hung over doorways to ward off evil and bring positive energy into the home. Sounds like a good precaution for taming your sourpuss alter ego twin, Gem.

🌱CANCER (JUNE 21 – JULY 22): CACTUS

You’re the zodiac’s premier softie—and while you might be tempted to reach for a cute little fern at the nursery, choose the cactus instead, which will serve as a reminder to stand your ground and toughen up.

🌱LEO (JULY 23 – AUGUST 22): BIRD OF PARADISE

Like your personality, this perennial is chic, flashy and utterly unsubtle. Add a floor-sized version to your living room layout for an energizing pop of greenery that matches your mojo.

🌱VIRGO (AUGUST 23 – SEPTEMBER 22): ENGLISH IVY

Ever practical, you’re all about improving your home and health. Scoop up an easy-care ivy plant, which was dubbed by NASA scientists as the number one best air-filtering houseplant. (Sayonara, carcinogens.)

🌱LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 – OCTOBER 21): PEACE LILY

This elegant houseplant is known for its ability to neutralize toxic household gases, like formaldehyde and carbon monoxide. In other words, it’s a master of achieving balance, just like you.

🌱SCORPIO (OCTOBER 22 – NOVEMBER 21): LAVENDER

The next time you get all queen of darkness, sniff your new potted lavender plant. This aromatherapeutic botanical is known to relieve stress, calm nerves and otherwise lift moody spirits.

🌱SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 - DECEMBER 21): JADE PLANT

Let’s be real: You need a hardy, low-maintenance plant that won’t die when you dash to the airport every weekend. Opt for the happy-to-be-left-alone jade plant, with its quirky bohemian vibes.

🌱CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 – JANUARY 19): BASIL

Dear overachiever, it’s time to slow your roll already. Treat yourself to a fragrant basil plant (which contains a stress-reducing compound called linalool) to help you find some work/life balance.

Phalaenopsis Orchid

Latin name: Ficus elastica

When to water: Regularly, every 5-10 days

Notes: You should spritz your orchid daily, or every other day. Once a week, run warm water through your plant and let it soak for a few hours. Pro tip: Orchids shouldn't be planted in sphagnum moss, it will rot them out. Use orchid bark mix instead. Lastly, this plant will thrive in a bathroom with windows. If yours does live in your bathroom, you can spritz it less often.
