Sharing vibes and space of my recent workation, I noticed that the Calatagan vibe was all about decompression. Traditionally this whole area was set as modern vacation homes for the wealthier Manila families but has settled into a faded, weathered look. However, this whole neighborhood is poised to have a rediscovery era soon, there’s plenty of construction activity around the houses, renovations and the like—- including plans for curated, idyllic experiences that are turning the way we see vacations. Architecture has a lot of nooks and crannies for built and unbuilt information, and one of them is understanding the Philippine market for real estate properties. These were part 2 of unit views of curated units available from Acqua to Salcedo buildings (after careful vetting and matching of a client’s preferences) then helping out untangle the terms of standard rent/sale practices expected for long term stay, with full bilingual expertise to help smoothen the way. It took about a week to coordinate and finish, after the initial client’s pains of trying to DIY for a month without result— he chose from this selection. Filinvest did a very pedestrian healthy underwalk using the canals it sits on top of in Alabang, south of the capital. Why can’t the rest of the metro follow? It’s not fancy but it’s very decent, even walking in the brutal midday summer sun. Makes me rethink this whole alabang thing hmmm.
