1. Ring cultivation is recommended for young mango trees. This is done by scrapping or hoeing the w**ds around the base of the trunk. An area of about one square meter should be maintained w**d free.

2. Inter-row cultivation using plow/tractor is necessary for big plantations. Avoid plowing near the root system.

3. Cover cropping involves planting of leguminous and creeping crops like Tropical Kodzu and Centrocema to suppress the growth of w**ds. However, cover crops should be cut or plowed as soon as these grow vigorously.

4. Chemicals (herbicides) can be spayed to lessen the laborious and expensive w**ding activities. During application, avoid contact with the trunk or leaves to prevent phytoxicity. Weedicides are recommended for large mango plantation.

Pruning helps train the size of the tree and direct the growth where you want it to begin for early fruit production and optimum fruit quality conditions.

2. TO IMPROVE TREE HEALTH
Tree pruning improves the overall tree health. The removal of dead, dying, or diseased branches help prevent further spread of decay. When you prune away dying or infested branches, it prevents the insects or other organisms that were harming those branches from infecting the rest of the tree.

3. TO STIMULATE GROWTH OF NEW BRANCHES
Properly pruned and trimmed trees promotes the growth of new, healthy leaves and branches. Get rid of any parts that are overgrown by pruning them aggressively and promote new growth by pruning more sparingly.

4. TO HELP CONTROL PEST AND DISEASES

Deblossoming is done by cutting the flower at the base stem to abort the on-set of fruit development. This is done to serve two purpose, namely: 1) to prevent the seedling/tree from being damaged because of its inability to hold the weight of the mango fruit; and 2) to allow all the nutrients to be utilized in the many branches, leaves and trunk for faster growth/tree development instead of the nutrients being expended in the production and development of a few mango fruits

If you wish to inspect our seedling stocks, our retail store is in Quezon City Circle Park and it is right in front of the parking entrance/exit (near the bike rental area) fronting the DAR building. You are also more than welcome to visit our nursery farm in Candaba, Pampanga (boundary of Baliuag, Bulacan) for a wider seedling selection.
