Some houses are more than structures—they are living archives of family stories, celebrations, and generations of memories.

We reimagined this 60-year-old ancestral home with modern comforts while preserving the warmth and character that made it home in the first place.

Natural materials, timeless details, and a refined tropical palette allow the old and the new to coexist—honoring heritage while creating spaces ready for the next generation.

At Lightspace, we believe good design isn’t always about starting over. Sometimes, it’s about listening to what a place has always wanted to become.

Finding new ways to live and build in harmony with nature has always been at the heart of what we do 🌱

We’re happy to introduce Luntian Studio, a duplex thoughtfully crafted from natural materials such as clay, treated bamboo, and stone. Though compact in size and designed with a modest footprint, the space remains naturally cool and comfortable throughout the day. Its breathable walls and carefully considered design allow air to move gently through the studio, reducing the need for mechanical cooling and creating a more balanced indoor environment.

Sustainability is more than a design approach for us—it is a value we deeply respect and strive to honor in every detail. Here is Luntian Studio, our small way of exploring how architecture can work with nature, rather than against it.

We don’t begin with a plan.
We begin with listening.

At Lightspace, we sit with the land first—feeling the wind, tracing the light, understanding how nature already moves. Only then do we ask: What can we build here that works with it?

By choosing natural materials in its immediate surroundings, we allow spaces to breathe, to age with grace, and to stay connected to Mother Earth—creating homes that feel alive, grounded, and in harmony with nature.

This is how we design.

The global crisis is affecting everyone, and in the construction industry, it means paying more and more for the exact same materials—until eventually, it no longer makes sense.

Perhaps this is the world shaking us awake. A reminder that the answer may lie in going back to our roots—to the way we Filipinos once built: traditionally, sustainably, and economically.

When the systems created by those in power begin to crumble, what remains is the call to return home. And home is more than a place. It is the wisdom of our ancestors, their stories, their experiences, and the lessons they left behind—lessons we were meant to carry forward, but have slowly forgotten.

Convenience may feel like luxury. The ability to turn dreams into reality in the shortest possible time may seem like progress. But the knowledge passed down by those who came before us is PRICELESS.

The truth is, our ancestors had already solved the basic problems of a tropical home. Elevated flooring and cross ventilation instead of air-conditioning. Limestone walls instead of concrete. Hardwood roofing instead of steel. So much of what we need is already around us. And with proper care for our environment, perhaps we do NOT need to rely so heavily on oil just to live.

Maybe what we need now is not to invent everything again, but simply to REMEMBER.
