📢 PUBLIC ADVISORY | Cebu City in Heightened Preparedness
Good day, Cebu City.
Due to the ongoing tensions in the Gulf region, global fuel prices may increase in the coming weeks. When fuel prices go up, transportation, food, and basic commodities are also affected.
In response, the Cebu City Government is now under a Heightened State of Economic and Operational Preparedness.
🔹 Efficient Use of Government Resources
All city departments are directed to strictly manage fuel consumption. Government vehicles must be used efficiently and only for essential services. We must protect public funds to ensure uninterrupted delivery of services to our people.
🔹 Garbage Disposal Costs May Increase
Our current yearly garbage disposal budget is around ₱500 million.
With the transfer of residual waste disposal to Aloguinsan, hauling and fuel expenses may increase this to ₱1 billion, and possibly ₱1.5–2 billion depending on fuel prices.
This is a serious financial responsibility.
👉 The solution starts with us.
✔waste segregation
✔ Compost biodegradable waste
✔ Recycle and reduce residual waste
The less waste we send to landfill, the lower our costs will be.
🔹 Food May Become More Expensive
We also anticipate possible increases in food prices. I encourage every household, if possible, to:
🌱 Grow your own vegetables
🌱 Start backyard or container gardening
Food security begins at home.
🔹 Use Energy and Water Efficiently
Let us also conserve electricity and water:
💡 Turn off unused lights and appliances
🚿 Use water responsibly
🔌 Avoid unnecessary power consumption
Saving energy and water not only lowers your bills — it strengthens our city’s overall resilience.
This is a call for discipline, preparedness, and unity.
Cebu City remains stable, proactive, and ready.
Let us work together to protect our resources and secure our future.
