We closed out March with a site visit to TRYBE Co-Living, one of our recently completed projects—a day spent walking through spaces we once only sketched, now lived in and alive.

Inside, the interior features match the patterns present in the client’s logo, prominent with the noticeable play on both sharp and curved surfaces and fixtures. A subdued version of the client’s branding color palette was then used to ground the interior spaces without diminishing any pop of accent colors. From the units, to the common spaces, to the building as a whole, the overall design is a culmination of the intent to create spaces that cater to the community.

Showcasing commitment to sustainable urban development through the practice of adaptive reuse. Instead of a complete demolition, the design strategy preserved and revitalized an existing, aging structure, giving it a new purpose as a modern co-living space. By re-purposing the old building, the development retains local character while inserting new life and color into the community. Taking cues from the client’s branding guide, the exteriors took on a playful approach with painted sun baffles to create a dynamic play of colors in the facade. While serving a functional purpose of concealing the building’s utilities, these angled fins also reflect the vibrant energy of its users within.

Aiming to be more than just a co-living establishment, this otherwise dormant 3-storey building was envisioned as a place where users can interact and fully thrive together. Trybe Co-living Space was designed as a place made for living, collaboration, and growth, honoring the client’s vision of a space built on a strong sense of community togetherness.
