Milk Teas have had their time, especially during the pandemic, where they are quite ubiquitous, from 3 for 100 pop up shops to premium milk tea shops, they were everywhere during that period. Then they suddenly fell out of style, replaced by the rise of coffee shops, and then matcha shops. Only few remained, those who are serving high quality milk teas.
Comma Cafe on the other hand is a newcomer, they came with a different approach to how teas are made and served. Unlike other tea shops that batch brew their tea in advance, Comma Cafe has a Teapresso machine, which brews the tea in a way similar to how espresso is made. This ensures that the tea being served to you is freshly made, and it does make a difference in the flavor. This kind of brewing is the first in the city.
I love how they have a lot of tea choices; even the floral and fruity ones, they have. You can even smell and sample them for you to choose which tea you'll like. First I had Gardenia Green Tea or Mao Feng milk tea, and it had a slightly earthy floral fruity flavor. I opted for 100% sweetness just to gauge their standard sweetness, and I love that it isn't very sweet, it has around 30%-50% sweetness from your average milk tea shops, the sinkers are actually slightly sweeter. So no need to reduce the sweetness, but still you have the choice to reduce the sweetness further.
I also took home a Pekoe Jasmine Green Tea and a Peach Oolong, both were regular teas and not milk teas. The regular teas though didn't have sinkers, but you can add one for 25. The takeout box is actually nice and reusable, very similar to Chagee.
There are a lot of things I want to try, especially their matcha, so I'm hoping to come back.
