• Nakatukod o may stilts para mas handa sa baha, moisture, at mas may airflow sa ilalim ng bahay.
• Mataas na kisame para umakyat ang mainit na hangin at manatiling mas presko ang loob.
• Ventanillas para may hangin kahit sarado ang malalaking bintana.
• Mga openings o vents sa itaas ng walls para tuloy-tuloy ang natural air circulation.
• Cross ventilation sa pamamagitan ng tamang puwesto ng mga bintana at openings sa magkabilang panig ng bahay.
• Malalapad na roof overhangs para protektado ang pader at bintana laban sa araw at ulan.
• Magagaan at breathable na materyales na hindi agad nag-iipon ng init.
• Elevated floors at raised platforms para mas ligtas sa baha at dampness.
• Covered outdoor spaces gaya ng veranda at lanai na nagbib**ay ng dagdag na living area habang presko pa rin.
• Orientation ng bahay na isinasaalang-alang ang direksyon ng araw at hangin para mabawasan ang paggamit ng aircon.
Sa madaling salita, ang Tropical Architecture ay hindi simpleng design style. Isa itong matalinong paraan ng pagdisenyo ng bahay na komportable, matibay, energy-efficient, at bagay sa klima ng Pilipinas.

Kwentong Bahay na Styro😁🏠

Tanong: “Mabilis ba masunog dahil gawa sa styro ang EC Panel !?”🤔

Sagot:
Hindi po. Isa ito sa mga karaniwang maling akala.

Ang EC Panel ay may styro (EPS) sa loob, pero ito ay nakabalot sa bakal at semento (plaster) sa magkabilang side. Hindi exposed ang styro, kaya hindi ito basta nasusunog.

✔ Fire-retardant ang Styro na ginagamit
✔ Kayang tumagal ng ilang oras sa kahit direktang apoy
✔ Ang semento ang unang sumasalo sa apoy, hindi ang Styro panel

☝🏼Mas ligtas pa nga ito kumpara sa ibang traditional materials kapag tama ang installation.

Sa tradisyunal na konstruksyon sa Pilipinas, ang mga poste at b**a
(columns and beams) ang pangunahing nagdadala ng b**at ng bahay. Ngunit sa paggamit ng EC Panel (isang uri ng EPS o Expanded Polystyrene Wall Panel), maaari nang magpatayo ng bahay na "walang poste" dahil ang mismong mga pader na ang magsisilbing load-bearing structures.

Paano ito Posible?

Ang EC Panel ay hindi lamang basta foam; ito ay binubuo ng EPS insulation core na balot ng steel reinforced mesh sa magkabilang panig. Kapag napalitada na ito ng semento, nagiging isa itong matibay na structural wall na kayang buhatin ang b**at ng bubong o kahit ng pangalawang palapag nang hindi na nangangailangan ng hiwalay na mga poste.

Mahalagang Paalala

Kahit "walang poste," kinakailangan pa rin ang gabay ng isang Structural Engineer o Architect. Sila ang magdidisenyo kung gaano kakapal ang panel at semento, at kung paano ang tamang paglalagay ng mga reinforcement sa mga kanto at pintuan upang masigurong ligtas ang inyong tahanan.

☝🏼For the first coat of plastering of EC panel "Poor Mix" will do before using the standard mix after 24 hours.

🔑 Key Points from IS 456:2000

- Nominal Mixes: IS 456 allows nominal mixes up to M20 grade (e.g., 1:2:4, 1:3:6). These are approximate and used for small works.

- Design Mixes: For M25 and above, concrete must be proportioned by mix design (IS 10262) to achieve required strength and durability.

- Minimum Grade for RCC: IS 456 specifies M20 as the minimum grade for reinforced concrete.

- Durability Considerations: Mix selection must account for exposure conditions (mild, moderate, severe, very severe, extreme).

- Poor Mixes (like 1:5:7): Not permitted for structural members because they fail strength and durability requirements. Only suitable for non-load-bearing works like leveling or filling.

- 1:5:7 (Poor Mix) → Not allowed for structural concrete under IS 456.
