Please make sure you read about their care guide before buying one.
They are actually EASY TO GROW, but we need to FOLLOW CERTAIN RULES.
*****
VENUS FLYTRAP BASIC CARE TIPS
LIGHT
VFT really loves the light! Make sure na iACCLIMATE sila
before exposing to full sunlight. Suggestion:
1st-2nd week : 2-3 hours direct s
unlight
3rd-4th week : 4-6 hours direct sunlight
5th week : endorse them to full sunlight
** ac·cli·mate -
"become accustomed to a new climate or to new conditions"
In addition, protect them with shade net specially during summer.
setup
Growlights
14 hours to 16 hours on. Recommendation for growlights
**Affordable but good quality
- Delponting Lights - (HT400, HT600, HT800)
(8inches away from plant)
 Delponting
- 1500W Growlights for indoor plants from Lazada (12inches away).
**Top Recommended but quite pricy
- Mars Hydro - (SP Series) (20inches away from plant)
 Mars Hydro Philippines
WATER
Use any of the following water:
- Distilled Water
- Rain water
- Reverse Osmosis water
Kung may TDS Meter ka, you can check the PPM ng available na tubig sa inyo. The lower, the better. (Php100+ ang TDS meter sa shopee)
Ps. Gamit namin ung galing sa water station sa kapitbahay, 7ppm lang tubig nila.
WATERING
Use the Water Tray Method. Important Note:
The soil should be damp not waterlogged as it may cause root rot. Ps. Pinapaulanan or water from top namin paminsan(twice a month) to wash the mineral build up sa medium. And then walang water sa tray for 1-2 days pag nagwater ako from top. Also make sure they won't dry up.
Temperature and Humidity. Humidity -
The Venus Fly Trap doesn't require extremely high humidity, but above 50%. Temperature -
21° - 35° C
and down to 5° C in the winter. Based on our growing experience, they can resist up to 39° C
Use "hygrometer" to check the temp and humidity. Recommended hygrometer
Xiaomi na Hygrometer -
Mas accurate and mas mabilis mag update
FEEDING
Treat them as Plants, NOT as Pets. Di po namin pinapakain ang VFTs,
hinahayaan lang namin sila kumain kung may insektong dumapo. But you may feed, hehe research nyo nalang po.
Ps. Ung kinakain po nila ang nag act as fertilizer, so basic plant food pa din ang ilaw at tubig; photosythesis.
DORMANCY
Sabi ng iba, dormancy is not needed. Sabi ng iba, dormancy is a must to reach plant's full potential and extend lifespan. Wala tayong winter so walang natural dormancy and no big difference in photoperiod. So discover it yourself nalang po
GROWING MEDIA (yung soil)
For water absorption
- Live Sphagnum Moss
- Dried Sphagnum Moss
- Peat Moss
- Coco Peat (make sure washed gang bumana ng sagad PPM)
For aeration
- Perlite
- silica sand
We use:
50% Dried Sphagnum + 50% Perlite. Important note
Make sure to STERILIZE and RINSE your media before using.
How to sterilize? Soak in boiling rainwater? Boil in rainwater? Microwave with rainwater? Choose your own way.
BLACK/DEAD TRAPS
Normal po na mangitim ang traps, wag mag panic. They possibly turned black because:
- lifespan na nila
- nakakain sila ng bigger prey
As long as may new healthy growth, nothing to worry. What to do with black/dead traps? Pwede nyo silang iwan lang or pwede niyo sila gupitin. If aalisin nyo, make sure na ung black part lang dahil as long as green pa ung part, nagphophotosynthesis pa un.
REPOTTING
Repot every 6-12 months. Avoid repotting and repotting as it cause stress to the plant.
 POT
NEVER use ceramic pot as it may be a source of mineral in your media
Plastic pot will be perfect. Atleast 3 inches deep. Adult plants will need deeper plants as VFT has very long roots. Majority of our plants use styrocup 8oz. Slim, tall and it does not absorb heat.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Ito ung parang strain/breed ng VFT. Cinoclone ung mother plant using asexual propagation para makuha ng new plant ang characteristic ng mother plant. Asexual Propagation via:
- Division
- Leaf Pulling
- Tisue Culture
SEED does not guarantee na makukuha nya ang characteristic ng mother plant. Which means all seed grown are called "TYPICAL". Credits to the owner.
