Module 1.2: Risk-based Land Use for Municipality of Barbaza

This module is for the identification of land-use-related issues and concerns of this rural municipality. For this activity, BAU designed and developed a land use planning tool and tested it for its viability and usability. Oppenheimer aids in visualizing these land use concerns. As the name suggests, Oppenheimer can easily show where the issues explode. Doing this in a public session allows for transparency and consensus building, the basic tenets of participatory land use planning.
BAU remains committed to continuously exploring and developing land use planning tools that are usable, customizable, and appropriate to the level of competencies of its clients.

Before the year ends, we'd like to extend our greetings to everyone who journeyed with us professionally and individually. We're grateful to work with folks whose visions inspire us to innovate and to develop empathy towards the end users.

The pandemic has brought in new things to process and if you're reading this, we're lucky to have stayed on. Our lives may have been disrupted but we continue to adapt to the situation.

We're sharing our latest piece of work for an urban center in Panay with high hopes for 2022 that we continue to make places better for the present and future generations.

Concepcion is blessed with a frame-worthy natural landscape with its serene beaches, diverse ecology and the presence of the majestic Mount Manaphag, otherwise known as Pan de Azucar. With a strong fishing industry, Concepcion needs to balance the marine ecosystem and livelihood of fisherfolks. There are identified marine protected areas in Concepcion with the efforts of the LGU, various fishing associations and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) Philippines.

As an NGO with a strong advocate for environmental conservation, ZSL Philippines commissioned BAU to design the Biodiversity Conservation and Ecotourism Information Center. Its construction will be financed by the Municipal Government with assistance from ZSL.

BAU was given an objective to design a culturally aware structure that will be a landmark social space among the community. It will receive guests such as tourists, academe, learners, locals, among others, and present vital information on local biodiversity and ways to protect them. This structure will also host meetings or trainings relative to marine life conservation and responsible tourism.
