Designed by J.P. TRAJE Architectural Studio, Matcha Day located at Kalibo, Aklan, is a playful, contemporary café that translates the ritual of matcha into a spatial experience—fresh, calming, and visually uplifting.

The project is defined by a soft pastel palette anchored in layered greens, blush pinks, and warm whites, echoing the earthy tone of matcha while keeping the atmosphere light and modern. Clean lines, glossy tiles, and minimal detailing give the space a crisp, curated feel, while the strategic use of plants introduces texture and a sense of calm.

The compact service counter is treated as a focal point—functional yet inviting—framed by custom cabinetry and subtle branding that reinforces identity without overpowering the space. Seating areas are intimate and thoughtfully arranged, encouraging both quick visits and relaxed stays. Vertical surfaces, stair moments, and color-highlighted walls add visual interest and depth despite the café’s modest footprint.

Matcha Day is a study in color, balance, and brand-driven design—a café with a strong personality, where architecture enhances both the product and the everyday pause it offers. 💚🍵

Today’s Ground Breaking Ceremony marks the beginning of the construction of the Tangalan Elementary School Main Gate, designed and to be constructed by J.P. TRAJE Architectural Studio—marks a full-circle moment, as it is led by Architect Judd Traje, a proud alumnus of Tangalan Elementary School. From once walking through these grounds as a student to now helping shape its future, this project stands as a testament to giving back, honoring roots, and building with purpose.

This meaningful event was joined by SPTA President Mrs. Amie D. Señeris, present SPTA President Mr. Robel Talislis, School Principal I and District In-Charge Mr. Mark T. Daroy, and the dedicated teachers of Tangalan Elementary School, whose unwavering commitment continues to shape the future of its learners.

We are also deeply grateful for the blessings led by Fr. Niño Hilario R. Araula, Parochial Vicar of St. John Nepomucene Parish, grounding this milestone in faith and thanksgiving.
