Under RA 12215, a Professional Regulatory Board of Agriculture will be established within the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). This board will oversee the licensure, registration, and regulation of agriculturists, ensuring adherence to a newly instituted Code of Ethics and professional standards. The board will comprise experts from various agricultural disciplines, including crop science, animal science, soil science, crop protection, agricultural economics, and agricultural extension and communication.
The legislation also mandates the revision and enhancement of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture curriculum to align with global standards. Additionally, it introduces Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs to ensure that registered agriculturists remain updated with the latest advancements and best practices in the field.
By professionalizing and regulating the agriculture sector, the Philippine Agriculturists Act aims to elevate the quality of agricultural services, promote sustainable farming practices, and contribute to the nation's goal of achieving food security.
