DIY tips on cleaning your mattress, couch & carpets -
Before falling to the trap of believing that some vacuum cleaners are specially made for "deep cleaning", allow us to share our years of experience on how to clean those unbearably dirty looking mattresses. First off, you have to determine that some dirt are totally irremovable. These are the oil based stains, ink & some crayon stains which just linger even if you brush that fabric until you put a hole on it. As basic principle, cleaning your mattress or couch is similar to doing laundry. You apply water & soap and, add some stain removers for the stubborn stains. This is where the usual Zonrox comes in to the scene and, as said, similar to laundry, we use the same stain removing agent to rid your fabric of those unsightly stains.
Dilute half & half of water with the color fast Zonrox variant. Use a shallow pan & pour about 1/4 of an inch of the mixed solution. Just enough depth to wet the tips of your laundry brush bristles. Scrub those heavily soiled portions of your fabric cover making sure that you don't overly apply liquid on it as this will essentially leave moisture & grow moulds. Apply only as needed to spread the cleansing agent to stained spots. For the non-stained portions, you can use any liquid laundry soap, also diluted with water.
Now, here's the "KEY". After brushing, vacuum that whole couch or matress using a WET & DRY type vacuum cleaner. Be sure to use only those that are rated at least 1000 watts. Nothing escapes that monstrous sucker! Almost instantly, your fabric cover will brighten. If stains still linger, repeat process as needed.
All vacuum cleaners are made the same and they do the same jobs. Some have added sprayers & reverse blowers, some even have built-in steamers, but it doesn't mean they are special. Above all, make sure to buy only those WET & DRY type & you can already get away with all the bills of having your couches or beds cleaned.
Now, if you want to take it a notch further, buy a big spray can of LYSOL. Spray it as closely as possible to your fabric and leave 15 minutes to absorb. To finish, vacuum the whole furniture using the same WET & DRY vacuum cleaner. This is how you truly disinfect your sofas and beds.
Nonetheless, if you are really not the hands on type, then that is exactly what we exist for :)
