PLANT OF THE WEEK
🍀Alocasia Albo🍀
Since I had an Alocasia Albo event last week, I'll share my 1 year-old Alocasia Albo which I bought as a seedling (It was only 6 inches tall before hehe).
I started becoming a because of this Alocasia Albo. I was both amazed and mesmerized by the variegation of the leaves of this variety.
To tell you the truth, there were times when this plant almost died due to multiple incidents (such as my dogs accidentally tripping on the pot or the people in the house overwatering this plant, etc.). Fortunately, this plant is really sturdy and easy-to-care for, and revives in a few weeks.
Moreover, when this plant was in its juvenile stage, its leaves have minimal variegation. When it matured, they started to show more variegation hehe.
I'm not sure how it got more variegation. Cliche as it is, but I just showered it with my love and care, and placed it in a location where I think it could grow well.
Anyways, when it was almost 2 ft, I transferred it to a bigger pot and as I've said earlier, I placed it under a tree surrounded by a lot of plants (helps with the humidity), and voila!
More leaves, more variegation, and very healthy aside from the other leaf in my 3rd picture which is caused by exposure to direct sunlight.
So, here are my care tips for this plant based on my experience:
Sunlight: Indirect Sunlight throughout the day. As you can see in my 3rd picture, the sun damages the leaf (especially those leaves with high variegation) if it comes in contact with the light.
Watering: Similar to the caladiums. I water it once to twice a day, depends on how hot it is. During the ber months, I only water once a day.
Potting Mix: For this one and I stand by with my mixture as my Alocasia Albo grew faster after I changed it to this mixture: pure garden soil with a little bit of vermicast. My ratio is 9 is to 1.
Fertilizer: Osmocote 14-14-14 (I CONSIDER THIS MY GO-TO FERTILIZER)
Note: More variegation, more sensitive to direct exposure to light.
Anyways - that is all! Hope my care tips help.
PS. This Alocasia Albo is not for sale. Part of my personal collection hehe.
