Another ongoing institutional project is the proposed UP Community Affairs Building (UP CACB) in close collaboration with the Office of the Campus Architect (OCA). This is quite a unique collab as the OCA had a previous scheme and I came up with my own scheme based on agreed parameters. The OCA had a more monolithic plan with high use of sunshading, while I made a scheme based on a central atrium. The higher ups preferred the monolithic type which is Ok because now we are collaborating on refining massing and planning schemes.

Another civic project that have unfortunately be put on hold: The Pasig Discovery Centrum and Library Center. This was a retrofitting and expansion project that would have expanded the building facade by 6m with a driveway underneath .I do hope this pushes through eventually for the constituents.

A more recent project was the interior renovation of the Pasig City Hall extension. It features a library, audiovisual room as well as a taxpayers lounge. As I have said public service is in its core a beautiful thing, and should be reflected in public buildings.

Some architects don't like retrofitting as it is actually difficult, with so many unknowns. I kind of like the challenge though. Take my earlier projects for Pasig City. I started renovating 3 floors of the City Hall. Space planning and working with existing constraints are par for the course. But the rewards of seeing a dramatic change in the environment as well as user behaviour are immeasurable.

Another memorable project was back in the early 2000's. I got to design my sister's house in the South. I went full on tropical meets modern with my signature double loaded portico. It got quite a bit of media mileage too.
